I followed the priest to his workspace. But I would stop right in the doorway as he entered. The same tools I had seen many years prior laid upon a table, only now they were freshly cleaned and polished.

I took a deep breath and reluctantly stepped into his lab, a shiver going down my spine. More diagrams of dragons were hung upon the wall as well as there being more vials and glass beakers. But my eyes were fixated solely on the torture tools.

"You have nothing to fear, Skylana. I wouldn't dare use these upon a person." Father said.

Whatever you say sick bastard, I thought. He claims he only uses them upon dragons, yet there is a Dragon inside of me. I do not trust him for a moment on this matter.

"Just show me the results so I may leave." I mumbled.

Father would gesture to a pair of vials filled with what I assume is MY blood. Both were filled halfway and to my own surprise, much darker red in color. I knew dragons blood was traditionally darker, but I did not think only a few drops of Eldwurm blood or possibly his residence within would entirely change my own.

"For starters, your blood is much darker than it should be. Secondly, I have discovered something that I am not positive you would like to hear."

I scoffed.

"I was captured by my own father and brought here, I didn't necessarily want to be here."

He nods.

"Very well then. But first, are you aware that a handful of people are actually connected to the dragons?"

"That depends, connected how?" I ask.

"Connected as you sharing a part of their very DNA."

I rolled my eyes. I am already aware that I share blood with 2 dragons, this was a waste of my time.

"Yes yes, 2 Eldwurms shared their blood with me as a newborn."

But the priest shook his head.

"Oh no. I am meaning that somewhere further back in your mother's side of the family, there is a small fraction of an Eldwurms soul."

My eyes widen upon the mention of my mother. I would protectively grip my necklace.

"How do you know this..?"

Father would reach for a small beaker containing a green liquid, pouring a small amount into one vial of blood. It would oddly enough make it turn a light pink. I raised a brow and looked to the old man.

"Quite an odd color."

"Indeed it is. It appears to me this fraction of a soul belongs to the Luminous Eldwurm-"

"Her NAME is Aurrak..." I growled.

Father looked at me.

"Yes, I know her name. I know the name of every Eldwurm. Hell, I've met them ALL and even managed to befriend 2 of them."

The priest was baffled.

"My word...now I understand why you are known as the Dragon Speaker."

Good Lord, has the word truly spread that fast in the matter of a month or so? Dragonhold is nowhere near the village I decided to call home, perhaps a 2 weeks journey if I estimate. But Father knowing this gave me the chills.

"So you have heard of that..."

"Of course. But now I see why many dragons did not see you as a threat before Slyrak took his place. It is because they could sense that fraction of Aurraks soul, her gentle and compassionate spirit would calm them."
