Part 2 - The Trip

A few weeks later...

I arrive at school without meeting Hardin on my way to school. But when I thought I won't see him, he appears at our last class for this week, math. Perfect!

"Hi." He sits next to me.

"Hi."

"Do you have a pen?"

"Yeah..." I give him a pen and a paper. He asked me every week at math to give him these.

"Thank you, Tess. Are you coming in that trip next week?"

"Yes."

"Good."

After a long day at school, I'm finally ready to go home. I'm walking with Emma when we hear a car stopping next to us. It's Hardin. What he wants? I look at his car and I see Olivia.

Hardin: "Get up girl. I can take you home."

Tessa: "No, it's fine. We can walk home. Take Olivia home. We want to walk. But thank you anyway." I slightly smile.

Hardin: "Are you sure?"

Olivia: "Babe, if they don't want to come, then leave them alone."

Hardin: "Ok, fine. See you on Monday!" They leave.

"Why you said no?"

"Because we can walk. It's warm outside and we don't need a drive back home."

"Well, you need a drive back home. Especially when your crush is inviting you."

"Emma, stop. Hardin and I are just friends and it will be in this way."

"I still can't understand why you can't tell him."

"He is happy with Olivia. I don't want to mess up our friendship."

"You are saying this every time. Just tell him what you feel. Maybe he feels the same."

"Yeah. That's not going to happen in this life."

"Never say never, Tessa."

It's Monday morning and in just 30 minutes we leave in our trip. I check again my suitcase and I have everything for the next three days. I kiss my parents and my little brother, then I leave to the school, where a bus will take us. I arrive at school and I meet Emma.

"We're staying in the same room at the hotel, right?"

"Yes!"

"Perfect!"

After another 30 minutes, we all get in the bus and we leave Seattle to our trip to Portland and Vancouver.

"Can you believe that Olivia is sitting with the girls and not with Hardin?"

"And what? They don't need to stay every minute together."

"No... But maybe it's your chance to talk with him."

"Emma, I told you hundred times that I don't want to do anything. In addition, I don't think my feelings for him are that stronger anymore. I understood that I don't have any chances with him, so I started to take my mind off of him."

"You're a liar. You like Hardin since the beginning of high-school. Now, what are you doing? It's not okay, Tessa. Why is so hard to allow your feelings to come out?"

"Because I don't want to ruin our friendship. Now, can we end this conversation here, please? I don't want to talk all our trip about this subject."

"Ok, fine."
