Part 3 - The Accident

Present time

That trip meant the end of our friendship. Since that moment, me and Hardin stayed apart. I cried a lot then. I lost a friend and I was hurt. But now, after two years, I'm feeling good and Hardin is not in my mind anymore. Well, he still has a place in my heart, but I'm not thinking about him every day, as I did when I was younger. After that trip, he started to drink more and I didn't want to have any connection to him. He insulted me and I didn't want to be around him anymore.

It's almost the end of the school year and we will graduate in a few weeks and all this high school period will end. But in a few months, a new chapter will begin. A chapter where the adulthood will start. In a new city, with new people. And honestly, I'm really excited about what's going to happen.

The prom party is in two weeks and I am expecting Noah to invite me to prom. Who's Noah? Well, he transferred in our school this autumn and we liked each other and we started to date. He is a really nice guy and I feel good with him and around him. He makes me happy and it's all I wanted in a relationship.

I just arrive at high school and I opened my locker to put my books in. I take the book for the next class and I close the door, but I sigh when I see Noah next to me.

"Jesus, Noah! You scared me."

"I'm sorry."

"What's up?"

"I want to ask you something." He leans on the drawers.

"Ok, I'm listening."

"Would you like to be my partner at our prom party next week?"

"What?" I smile.

"Do you wanna come with me at prom?"

"Of course, I want." I smile and I hug him.

"Thank you, Tessa."

"Can we talk more after classes? I have to be in my English class in two minutes."

"Sure! See you later." He kisses my cheek and I leave for my English class. I enter in class and I go to sit next to Emma.

"Guess what, Em'." I smile while I open my notebook.

"What happened? What did that prick?" She gasps. She doesn't like Noah. She always says that he is too stupid for me. But I don't think this.

"He invited me at prom." I say really excited.

"Woah... What a new, Tessa. Like no one knew you would go with him." She rolls her eyes.

"What's wrong, Em'? Why are you so against him?"

"He is not good for you. That's all. Now, shush, the teacher will be here soon."

I don't say anything and I just look at my notebook. Emma has changed in the last months and I have no idea what's wrong with her. But I hope I will find out soon.

After a long day at school, I'm finally ready to go home. I lock my locker and I go the exit. When I want to leave the school, someone catches my arms. Oh, shit.

"Noah! Be more careful next time. You scare me every time."

"Sorry. I wanted to see if you want to come tomorrow after school at my football game."

"Yeah, I would love you. What time?"

"Around 2 pm."

"Good. See you there."

I kiss his cheek and I walk home. As I arrive, I made something to eat, then I go to do my homework and to finish some projects as this is the last week before the final week, where we finish the prom room and stuff like this.
