Part 28 - Moved On

Tessa

I drive away until the campus is far away. I park in the first empty parking lot and I start to cry. I'm so hurt. I thought that Hardin was my real love, but everything was in vain and now, I am the one who's suffering.

But he doesn't deserve my tears. I'm strong and I'll move one. I can show him that I can live happily without him.

I'm interrupted from my thoughts by my phone. I look at the caller ID and it's Mia. Let's see what she wants.

Phone call

"Hi. Are you okay?"

"Why I should be okay, Mia? My boyfriend just dumped me for a stupid college on another continent."

"Where are you now? He called Nate and he's desperate because you left."

"He's faking it. His feelings aren't real."

"Come to my place. It's late and you need a place to sleep. Please, Tessa..."

"Okay... I'm coming." I sigh. "But if Hardin will be there, I won't stay."

"Hardin is not here. Nate went to his place to watch him."

"Good. I'll hung up and I'll come to your place."

I end the call with Mia and I drive to her place. I park the car, I take my bag and I go to Mia's place. As soon as she opens the door, I hug her and I start to cry.

"Shh, it will be okay. You will move on."

"I'm so done with him, Mia... And it hurts like hell. I loved him and I still do love him. But what he did... Is unforgivable."

"It is. But you are strong, and you will move on. And you will find someone better than him."

I wake up after a long night. I don't know if I managed to sleep two or three hours. I'm exhausted and I'm sure I'm not able to go to work today. It's almost 8am, so Kim is at work, so I will call her to announce that I'm sick. I'm sick. It's not a lie. My heart is sick. I dial her number and I wait to answer.

Phone call

"Good morning, Kim." I say and I don't recognize my voice. My voice is hoarse.

"Good morning. Everything is okay?"

"Yes. I mean, no. I can't come to work today. I'm really sick and I'm not able to work today."

"Oh, alright. I can hear you're not okay. Take as much time as you need to recover. Health on first place."

"Thank you, Kim."

"Get well soon, honey! Bye!"

I end the call with Kim and I check my texts. I have tons of texts from Hardin where he tells me to let him explain. I will ignore him. I don't want to talk with him or see him ever again. I block his number, so he won't bother me.

I have to get up from bed and I have to move on. I'm strong and I can move on. Hardin will be in the past and I will be happy without him.

I get out of Mia's bedroom and I find her and Nate on the couch drinking some coffee.

Mia: "Tessa! Good morning."

Tessa: "Hi."

Nate: "Look... I'm sorry you had to find in this way..."

Tessa: "You knew?"

Nate: "He told me a few days ago and I promised him to not tell anyone and I keept my promise. I don't know from where Olivia knows. Look, Tessa... He was going to tell you."
