Part 30 - Drunk In Love

Four fucking years since I made the biggest mistake in my life. I left the love of my life for some stupid college on another continent. I wish I could do something, to repair everything, but as I know from our mutual friends, she moves on and I don't have any chances to win her back.

But tonight... tonight I will see her again and I'm really nervous. I saw a lot of pictures with her from the last years, but I know that she's still the same Tess. My Tess.

Tonight, I'm back in town for Nate's wedding. I'm his best man and Tess is going to be Mia's bridesmaid. But let's hope the party before the wedding will go right.

After a cold shower, I start to get ready. When I check the time, I'm already late, so I hurry up to get dressed, then I leave my hotel room, taking a taxi to the pub where the bachelor party will be. I arrive ten minutes after the initial hour, but I'm sure they won't be mad. It was traffic anyway. I enter and I walk until I see them. My heart starts to beat faster as soon as I see her. And she's not alone. Emma's here. Okay. When I arrive next to them, I start to speak.

Hardin: "Hi guys! I'm sorry for being late, but the traffic made me to be late." She's wearing a short black dress, she has heels and she still looks beautiful. I think she's more beautiful than four years ago. As soon as she turns around, her smile pales.

Emma: "Hardin! Hi!"

Hardin: "Hello Emma, Tess. Guys!"

Nate: "Okay, thanks for coming tonight, guys. I hope you all will be tomorrow with us, to witness how we get married and let's have fun!"

Nate brings a first round of shots, then the girls go to the dance floor. Since I arrived, I had my eyes on Tess, but she avoided me and she kept talking with the girls. I don't think I have any chance with her.

"What's up, bro?"

"She's not giving a fuck about me, man."

"What did you expect? To come here and she would have jump in your arms? She's not stupid, Hardin. She still has feelings for you, but she's happy with Robert."

"She doesn't look happy."

"Because you are here. You don't know how hurt she was when you left."

"I know, Nate. I know really well. But I want to try to win her back. And if I will do it now, I'm moving back to Seattle. Chicago isn't as good as home..."

"Be careful, man. I don't want to see her suffer again. Mia was always with her and now, I want Mia only for me."

"I promise to try hard to win her back."

It's past midnight and as I can see, Tessa is having too much fun. She's jumping with Emma on the dancing floor and she's really drunk. I'm sitting on the couch and I drink from my coke. I look at her coming to the table. She's giggling and I missed this sound. She takes her glass with some cocktail and she drinks the last sips. She should stop drinking. She has a wedding to attend tomorrow.

"You should stop drinking. As I know, you a bridesmaid tomorrow."

"You..." She points her finger to me. "can't tell me what to do, okay?" Tess being bossy is doing things to me.

"Tess..."

"It's Tessa for you, Hardin."

"Tess. You will always be Tess for me. No matter what I did."

"You broke me, you know."

"I know very well. But I also know you should go home."

"You can't order to me!" She's really pissed.
