Tessa

We're finally back home and we have only three days left until we will be back to Seattle, for our classes. Hardin parks the car in the front of my house and sadly, I don't want him to leave.

"I don't want to leave." He takes my hand and he smiles.

"Me neither, but we have to go to our houses.

"Come to dinner with your mother."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, it will be nice for our moms to talk."

"Okay. What time?"

"What about 6pm?"

"Sounds good, baby. I will ask mom if she wants to come and I let you know."

"Okay." I smile and I lean on to kiss him. "Love you."

"I love you."

He smiles and I take my bag from the backseat, then I leave the car, walking to the entrance. Hardin doesn't leave until I'm inside. Ugh, how much I can love him?

I get inside and I see Travis playing on his PlayStation.

"Tessa!" He pauses his game and he comes to hug me.

"Hello little brother. Where's mom?"

"She's upstairs, she's taking a shower."

"Oh, okay. I'm going to take this upstairs and I will get changed, then I will be right back."

I kiss my brother and I walk upstairs in my room. I quickly unpack my stuff and I throw all my clothes in the laundry bag, then I change in some comfy clothes. When I want to go back downstairs, I get a text on my phone. It's from Hardin.

H: Mom agreed to have dinner with your and your mother. We will be there. Xx

T: Perfect. We will prepare something good for dinner. Xx

H: Good. Can't wait to see you.

T: See you later, babe.

I leave my room and I go back downstairs where is my mother with Travis.

Carol: "You're home."

Tessa: "Yes. I invited Hardin and his mother to dinner."

Carol: "You invited them without telling me? What's wrong in your head, Tessa?"

Tessa: "Nothing is wrong, mum. We're just having dinner with my boyfriend and his mother."

Carol: "I'm not in the mood for guests. Tell them to not come."

Travis: "C'mon, mom! Hardin is a cool guy. Let them come for dinner."

Tessa: "Maybe you and Trish could be friends. You two went through a divorce."

Carol: "No. I don't need anyone to talk about this. Call him and tell him not to come. Invent something and tell them we're busy doing something else."

Tessa: "You should move on, mum. The divorce is in the past. It was meant to be. You should make people stay away. But if this is what you want, then I'm doing it."

I get up and I walk upstairs in my bedroom and I dial Hardin's number. He picks up quickly.

Phone call

"Do you miss me already?"

"You can't come for dinner."

"What? Why? What happened?"

"Nothing. My mother is not in the mood for guests. I'm sorry, Hardin."

"Hey, it's okay, baby. We can come next time. I kind know how your mother is feeling after the divorce. My mother was the same when she divorced."
