Part 36 - Sharing The News

Tessa

I arrived this morning at my mother's house. I decided to share the news at dinner, when Travis and dad will also be here. I'm a little bit nervous because I don't know how they will react. And what they will say about having a baby with someone who hurt me.

It's 3pm and I need to get out, so I get dressed and I walk downstairs.

"Mum, I'm going on a walk."

"Okay, honey. But be home before dinner."

"Okay. I'll see you later."

I say and I leave the house. I walk around the neighborhood and somehow, I arrive next to Hardin's house. Is his mother still here? I had a nice relationship with Trish and she was so good with me. I think I will pay a short visit to her. In the end, she did nothing wrong and she deserves to be in my baby's life, right?

I walk to the door and I ring the bell, waiting for her to open.

"Oh, Tessa. What a surprise!"

"Hi!"

"Come in darling." I smile and I get inside. "Are you home for Thanksgiving?"

"Yeah. And I decided to pay you a visit to share some news with you. In case Hardin didn't tell you."

"Oh, did you two got back together?"

"No... But... Ugh, it's awkward to explain."

"You can talk with me as I'm your mother, you know?"

"Yeah. So... I saw Hardin at a wedding a few weeks ago and we..." I can't continue because the door opens and Hardin comes in. Shit.

Hardin: "Tess? What are you doing here?"

Tessa: "I'm visiting your mom."

Trish: "Tessa was about to tell something to me."

Hardin: "Yeah, we want to tell you something."

Tessa: "We?"

Hardin: "Yes, we. It was our secret until now."

Tessa: "No."

Trish: "What happened guys?"

Hardin : "Tessa is pregnant."

Trish: "Oh my God! Congrats!" She hugs me and I hug her back. I don't like how Hardin told her, but I won't fight with him right now.

Hardin: "Thanks mom."

Trish: "So, you two are together."

Tessa: "No."

Hardin: "Not yet."

Trish: "I'm really happy for you kids. And even if you two have problems now, I'm sure you will be able to solve them before the baby is born."

Hardin: "We will."

Trish: "And how far you are, darling?"

Tessa: "Seven weeks tomorrow. Everything is going well and the baby is healthy. I don't have the ultrasound, but there's nothing we can see right now."

Trish: "That's good." She smiles. "Are you hungry? I can prepare something for you."

Tessa: "Don't bother, I ate at home."

Trish: "Alright."

Hardin: "Mum, can you excuse us? I want to talk something with Tessa. We will be in our room."

Tessa: "Hardin..."

Hardin: "Please..."

Tessa: "Okay..." I sigh and we walk upstairs, in his old room. It's the same as a few years ago. He didn't change anything.

"Please, sit down."

"No, I won't. So? What do you want to talk?"

"I want to talk about us. I want you to give us another chance. I promise to not disappoint you again."

"Hardin... It's hard for me to move on so easily. I need time."

"I can give you as much time as you need. But I want to be back in your life. It's not just us anymore and I want to be a father for our baby. Please..." 

"Okay. Just don't press me with this."

"I promise." He smiles and I have to admit that I missed his smile.

"I gotta go. I have to be home for dinner. I'm sharing the news with my family."

"Do you want me there?"

"No. I will be good."

"Okay. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay." I smile. "Uhm... I'll send you a picture with the ultrasound, but don't expect to see a baby. With time, we will see better."

"Okay."

"Okay." I giggle. "See you soon."

"Bye!"

I leave Hardin's house with peace. I'm happy because he wants us and with time, I will be able to forgive him totally for everything. And I can't wait to have our small family.

I arrive home and I see dad's car outside and Travis's bike. I've missed them a lot. Dad is living in the other side of the town and Travis is living in Portland with his girlfriend Ivy. My brother is not little anymore and I'm really proud of him. He is in his last year of college at the Art School and even he has a bad boy look, he is the kindest man ever. And I love him anyway. He's my brother.

I get inside the house and I see all of them on the couch.

Travis: "Sis!" He gets up with a smile and he comes to hugs me.

Tessa: "Hi, little brother." I hug him. "Hi, dad, Ivy."

Richard: "Hi sweetie!" I hug him and then I hug Ivy.

Ivy: "It's good to see you, Tessa."

Tessa: "Same." I smile. "Before dinner, I want to share some news with you."

Carol: "We are all ears."

Tessa: "Okay... So... I won't long it. I'm pregnant."

Carol: "What?"

Travis: "I'm going to be an uncle!"

Carol: "Oh, wow... It's not too soon? You are with this man just a for a few months."

Tessa: "It's not his baby. I... The father of my baby is Hardin. We met at Mia's wedding and the feelings for each other were still there. It happened and I found out I'm pregnant a few weeks ago. We are working on us and we really want us to work this time. And I still love him. Even after what he did and said to me, I want him in my life. And I want to form a family, so I would like you to not judge me."

Carol: "Oh, wow... No on will judge you darling. We are happy for you and we will support you no matter what. If this is what you want, we will be happy."

Tessa: "Thank you, mum." I say and I hug her, being on the verge of crying. I'm too hormonal and I'm crying too easily.

The rest of the night went well. We talked about everything and I felt good. It was nice to talk with my family about my future plans and it was so good to talk with them about me and Hardin and our future. I'm determined to give him another chance. He changed and I know that our baby is going to bring so much love between us. And I can't wait to start this new journey with Hardin. But first, we have to talk.

Tessa is home for Thanksgiving. And she's planning to dhare the news with her family.

But first, she needs a walk to clear her mind. She arrives in the front of Hardin's house and she decides to get inside. Trish has to know she's going to be a grandmother. Meanwhile Hardin comes home and he shares the news with her. She's really happy for them.

Hardin and Tessa talked and she wants to givr him another chance, but it will take a while until she build her trust for Hardin.

And her family supported her when she gave them the news. Everything is going in the good way, huh?
