At 11:30 we said goodbye to Chris and Ashley.

Mike and I were walking back to his car.

"Did you have fun?" He asked.

"Yeah." I blushed.

When we got to the car, Mike opened the passenger door for me. I turned around to him before I got in the car.

"What you said earlier, it meant a lot to me." I said running my hand up my forearm.

Mike grabbed my hand. "Don't be nervous. I meant every word. And, I know i'm not good with commitment but-"

Before Mike could finish, I pulled him in for a kiss by his collar.

"Now," I started. "Did you get a call from the police department?" I asked.

Mike sighed. "I'm sorry Sam. Can we not right now, things were going good."

"Mike i'm not mad. Just tell me." I pushed my fingers through his hair.

"Yes, they wanted us to go back." He answered.

"And do you want us to go back?" I added.

"Sam, can we talk about this later. Please."

I smiled at him and then shook my head. "Don't be so serious. We can talk later."

"Wait, how did you know?" He raised his eyebrow.

"We'll talk about it later, as you said." I gave him a small pec on the lips and jumped in the car.

Mike scoffed with a smile and closed the door.

I felt myself dosing off to 'Mistakes like this' on the radio.

Eventually, I could no longer hold my eyes open and let sleep take over.

"Sam." I heard faintly. I blinked a few times before opening my eyes. Mike was holding my door open for me.

"There you are sleepy head." He messed up my hair with his hand.

I yawned without saying anything.

"Here, come on." He slid his arms under my thighs and picked me up.

I laid against his chest with my feet dangling over his arms.

Mike got inside and laid me on the couch.

"You okay?" He asked.

I looked up at him, my eyes fully open this time, and motioned for him to come closer.

He smiled and bent down on one knee, coming closer to my face. "Can you take me to your bed."

"You know i will."

Mike laid me in his bed and I curled up into the pillow.

"Do you want me to get your clothes?" He asked.

"You don't have to." I answered.

"You've basically moved into my room." He walked out of the bedroom.

When he came back, he had my bag of clothes. I changed into a short shirt and some shorts. "Thank you."

I laid down and patted the bed beside me.

Mike laid down, facing me with his hand on my waist.

"Should we talk now?" He asked.

"I'm tired. There's always tomorrow." I said moving in closer. Mike kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around me.

"Get some rest."

In the morning, I woke up slowly. Mike was still asleep. I had felt so dirty from last night and decided to take a shower.

The water was so warm, I could've fell back asleep. I grabbed my body wash out of my bag, it was scented lavender.

After I finished washing, I let water run down my body, getting all the soap off. I turned my head quickly as I heard something in the bedroom. It must be Mike.

I got out the shower and wrapped my towel around me. Leaning forward, I opened the bathroom door. Mike was standing there.

"Well, we should talk?" I asked, Mike nodded.

"First off, I wanted to say that, I didn't tell you because I know how you are Sam. You're too brave, you'd go back to help." He looked down as he moved his hands from my shoulders to my hands.

"I really appreciate that Mike. But I know you want to go back too." I said.

Mike stayed silent.

"You wanted them all dead for what they did." I added.

"I know. I know, but it's too dangerous. I don't want to lose you and I don't care how protected they said it would be. You know how the wendigos kill."

"We could still be helpful Mike." I pleaded.

"Please Sam. I don't want to argue. I just want you to be safe." Mike looked almost as if he had tears in his eyes.

"Okay." He pulled me in for a long hug.

Maybe he was right. The police barely believed us as it was.

Later that night, Mike had been thinking about what Sam said. He had promised to himself that
he would stop and kill those things. That he would never let it happen again.

I shifted in the bed and felt beside me. "Mike?" I questioned, my eyes still closed. I turned around after no response and laid my eyes on a note.

"Don't come after me, I don't plan on dying. I'll be back soon." I picked up the note, my hand shaking. A tear came to my eye. This isn't happening.

I quickly stopped myself from crying and ran to my bag to find appropriate clothing. I picked up my phone and dialed Mike's number. It started ringing somewhere in the house. I ran downstairs and my eyes laid on the phone on the counter.

"Shit." I took a deep breath.

I dialed Jessica's number. "Sam? You know i'm not a morning person."

"Mike left without me."

"What do you mean?" She said confused.

"Mike went back to the Washington's mountain. I'm going after him." I added.

"Sam, don't get yourself killed." Jessica interrupted my thoughts.

"Okay, see ya Jess." I hung up. Then I called Emily.

"What is it i'm kind of busy." Emily said in a bitchy tone as always.

"Mike went to the Washington's Mountain and I need you to drive me there."

"What!" It took me a couple minutes of convincing but she was on her way.
