They were something out of nightmares.

Raised so far above the ground that you'd think they could reach the clouds.

The weight of their footfalls shook the earth far before you laid eyes on one.

In stories, the sheer size of them is what had you afraid.

But if you ever saw one it wasn't the size of mass towering above you, and it wasn't the feeling of dread that snaked through your body.

It was the icy boiling terror that shook you to a standstill with the look in their eyes.

Beyond the grip of their hands, strength of their feet, and bite of their mouth.

Nothing compared to their eyes.

Pools of fathomless inky space.

Stories always said that if you stared long enough into one of their eyes it would consume your being entirely.

I believed it.
