I love you

I love you but I've grown bitter of that love

I've grown to envy the ground you walk on

Ground that you have paved yourself

You were once a small child, same as I

We stood side by side

But you continued to sprout more inches

and wings grew from your back

You flew far beyond my sad sight could see

And I became envious

It curled around me every time you looked back to see how close I had gotten

you kept flying

Soaring through the air taking everything along with you

And I got your scraps

The pieces that fell when your arms were too heavy

So when my scraps became too many

I dropped them

I stopped where I stood and turned around

Then I walked the other way
