Danica wakes up, feeling a wave of heat roll over her immediately. She shuts her eyes tightly, suddenly getting aware of the pain she is in. Her body feels like she was thrown off a cliff and the immense heat makes her feel like a sun is exploding next to her; beautiful yet deadly golden sparks flying trough the air and killing everything they come in contact with.
After getting somewhat used to the pain Danica slowly opens her eyes, a bright, flickering light coming from the direction of the heat. As the girl slowly comes back to her senses she starts to notice the smell of smoke and fire filling the air.
She sits up immediately, clutching one of her sides as a new wave of pain takes over. The girl tries to ignore it and get up, knowing that something bad has to have happened while she was unconscious.
Her eyes widen as she sees the temple in flames, the only home she has known for years burning down in front of her eyes. Panic settles in her.
Ben. What happened to Ben?
Another wave of fear washes over Danica as she remembers the other inhabitants of the compound.
The younglings.
The girl leans against one of the stones behind her, slowly getting up. She waits for a few seconds, trying to channel enough energy to get the younglings out of the temple and save them from their certain death.
The girl shoves the thoughts about Ben into the back of her mind, knowing that he was outside when the fire started and that he can take care of himself. He is probably lying around somewhere still unconscious or in the temple trying to get the younglings out. He might not like them that much but he would never leave them to die.
It might be selfish but Danica secretly hopes that he abandoned them. That way he could be safe.
The girl runs up to the temple, having set her mind on saving the younglings; after all it's a Jedi's duty to save those that can't save themselves. She pulls the collar of her shirt over her nose and mouth, hoping that it'll somehow help to keep the smoke away as she enters the last remains of an old religion that are burning down in front of her, taking century old knowledge with it.
Danica runs down the corridors to the familiar hallway where her former sleeping quarters are located. The current younglings all sleep there. A hiss leaves her clenched teeth as a few sparks hit her as the result of the crumbling of one of the columns next to her, creating a hole in the wall that allows some of the cold air of the night to enter.
