CHAPTER 32 - WRITING, VIDEO GAMES, AND A DEAL
Kari’s POV
“That should be it for today,” I tell Mike, Ashton, Luke, and Cal. They nod and get up from our songwriting table. I follow suit and all five of us make our way out of the studio.
I feel like keeping to myself today so I stay slightly back from the boys and listen to their conversation. Ashton notices that I’m lagging so he slows his pace and starts walking by my side. So much for keeping to myself.
“You okay?” Ashton asks me.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” I simply state.
“I know we’ve only known each other for two days, but you don’t seem okay. You’re even more quiet than usual,” Ashton comments.
“I guess I just don’t feel like talking,” I shrugged.
“Is it because of Harry?”
“I don’t know. Maybe. I mean, he hasn’t texted or called me at all. I’m starting to think that he really doesn’t care about me. I don’t know what I expect though. It’s not like he’s going to appear in front of my hotel room door,” I sigh.
Ashton chuckles. “Of course he cares Kari. For what I’ve heard about this relationship is that Harry cared for you so much that when you left he probably had no idea what to do. And you never know, Harry has the resources. There’s always a chance he’ll appear out of nowhere.”
“I guess you’re right Ash,” I chuckled. There was no possible way Harry could come out of nowhere with a tour in progress.
We had made it to the car and climbed in. I took a spot between the window and Mike and put on my seatbelt. Safety first kids. We drove mostly in silence, aside from the occasional comment from Cal or Luke. When we pulled up to the hotel the boys ran out, eager to get to their room to satisfy there X-Box fix. I followed behind them slowly, knowing I’d just be spending some quality alone time in my own room.
Once I got to my room I jumped onto the bed and flipped on the TV. I have to admit that Australian TV was a bit different from British TV. Not that is was a good or bad difference. It was just a difference. I found a channel with a horror movie on and stopped there. A little while ago I had decided to get over my fear of horror movies. I had just thought that Harry would be here to help me, but I guess I was alone.
As I watched I couldn’t help but feel like my life was turning into a horror movie. People were lying to me. I fled to a different continent. My friends never called. Well, except Claire. She probably would have blown up my phone she hadn’t of stopped calling. Speaking of phones, I heard mine vibrate on the nightstand. I reached over to get it and looked at the caller ID. It was Zayn. I stared at his name, debating whether to answer or not. I finally gave in and answered.
“Hello?” I said cautiously.
“Kari! You actually answered!” Zayn exclaimed from the other end.
“Yeah, I did,” I said sheepishly.
“Well, before you hang up or anything, let me just say that I’m not calling as a messenger for Harry or anything. I just need to ask you something,” he said.
“Well, okay. What is it?” I questioned.
“Does Harry happen to be with you?” Zayn asked.
