CHAPTER 37 – THE VISITOR (PART ONE)

Kari’s POV

“I’m actually concerned to leave you guys alone for a few days,” I chuckled as I hugged Mike, Luke, Cal, and Ash goodbye at the airport.

“Don’t worry about. We’re big boys,” Luke assured me.

“Really? If I must remind you all, you were the ones having a pillow fight last night,” I said.

“Hey! People of any age can have a civilized pillow fight,” Mike defended there actions. We all laughed and then Ash pulled me aside.

“I’m proud of Kari,” he said.

            “Why?” I asked him.

“Because you’re trying to make everything better. Everyone I know would just ignore it,” he explained.

I hugged him and said, “Thanks Ash.”

“No problem. It’s what friends are for. Now go get on that plane. Just as long as you come back,” he laughed.

            “I promise I’ll come back.”

            “Good.”

“Kari, it’s time to go,” Kate interrupted us.

“Okay. Bye guys,” I said as I started down the terminal. I waved with my free hand and they waved back until we couldn’t see each other.

Now I was focused on my flight. I was actually going to Tampa. It felt good to know that I was doing something so many other people probably should being doing, but are too scared to. Today was the day I make things right and I couldn’t feel happier.

The flight from Sydney was uneventful, just like ever other flight I had been on. But that was better than crashing in the middle of the ocean. Yikes.

As I got off the plane I looked for Paul who apparently been in touch with Simon and was going to bring me back to the same hotel as the boys and Claire. I had just picked up my bags when I spotted him.

            “Hey Paul,” I greeted him.

“Long time, no see Kari,” he said.

            “Yeah, it’s been a while,” I said.

We continued our casual conversation all the way to the car. On the way to the hotel are conversation faded slightly, both of us being more occupied by the radio.

“Your room is on the same floor as everyone else,” Paul informed me once we got to the hotel.

“Okay,” I said a bit nervously.

“Don’t worry. Everyone is at rehearsal,” Paul assured me, reading my mind. I just nodded.

When we reached the room where I would be staying, Paul reached into his pocket and pulled out the key.

“I’m just down the hall if you need me,” he said, handing me the key.

“Thanks Paul,” I said as he started toward his room. I turned to face to door and inserted the key. There was a click and I opened the door. Looking around, I could tell this was a pretty nice hotel.
