CHAPTER 5 – FRIENDS DON’T DO THAT

AN: Hey everyone! I don't really know what to say other than it's ONE DIRECTION'S 2ND BIRTHDAY! If you didn't notice I changed my profile and background pic to One Direction.. yeah, I'm really excited. I'm so proud of our boys and what they've accomplished. So yeah, I felt like I should update in honor of today, so here's chapter 5! <3

Claire’s POV (After Kari left the hotel)

After all the boys came back to my room I started to cry harder. Why did I always ruin friendships? First Briana and now Kari. Maybe I was meant to be a loner. Niall came and sat down next to me. He pulled me close and I cried into his shoulder. When I finally got a hold of myself I got my phone out and texted Kari every few minutes. I had to fix this. I couldn’t lose Kari as a friend. I saw all the boys were texting too, except for Zayn. He didn’t seem as concerned as the others.

“How can you not be concerned at a time like this Zayn?”

“You guys just need to give her some space. She’ll come back when she’s ready,” he said calmly.

“Do know something we don’t?” I asked, eyeing Zayn.

“No,” he said. I heard his phone vibrate. He stared at the text intently before tapping an answer. It vibrated again.

“Who are you texting?” I asked.

“Who? Me?” Zayn asked. I nodded.

“Perrie,” he said innocently before looking at his phone again. I slowly nodded. What was he hiding? Whatever it was I shrugged it off. I thought of Kari and immediately started crying again.

Kari’s POV (Back in Present Time)

I finally finished climbing nine flights of stairs and approached Claire and Niall’s door. I texted Zayn and I heard shuffling. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. It was opened almost immediately by Zayn. I gave him a weak smile before stepping into view of the others.

“Kari!” They all chorused before engulfing my in a group hug.

“Guys! Can’t breathe!” I said and they all pulled away. Then they all started asking questions. I finally got so overwhelmed I whistled. That shut them right up.

“Listen guys, I appreciate your concern, but I really need to talk to Claire,” I said. They just nodded.

“Alone,” I added. They nodded again and left the room. I saw Claire sitting on the bed with tears running down her cheeks. I went over and pulled her into a hug.

“Claire, don’t cry. This isn’t your fault. You were just trying to help me out and I overreacted.”

“No. It’s my fault Kari. I tried to force you into something that you didn’t want. I could have lost you.”

“What do you mean?”

“I could have lost you as a friend.”

“Claire, you could never lose me.”

“Really?”

“Of course, we’re best friends and all best friends fight. I would be stupid not to forgive my best friend. I was overacting and I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry too,” she whispered. I wiped the tears off her cheek.

“We good?” I asked. She nodded and we both started laughing.
