CHAPTER 36 – HE DOESN'T HATE YOU

AN: Just a quick note before you read, but in the last chapter it says Kari used her own phone to call Simon. As I wrote this chapter I found that she should have actually used the phone that was just in the room. Ya know, cause some hotels have that. Yeah, okay. Enjoy!

Kari’s POV

Once I got off the phone with Simon I started packing. I don’t think I’ve been in Australia for very long, but I sure had made myself at home.

My clothes were haphazardly spread throughout the room and I hadn’t bothered to fold or wash any of them.

I had also neglected my phone. Ever since the text from Harry I hadn’t looked at it or charged it. For all I knew, it was dead. I probably should have used my phone to call Simon instead of the one in the room.  But I was almost too scared to touch it. Like if I did something terrible would happen. Or maybe I was just being a coward. I looked at my phone lying in the middle of the floor. I picked it up, ignoring the fact that I had no idea how it got there, and pressed the power button. Surprisingly, it turned on. Also, nothing happened. Yep. My theory about me being a coward was right.

My attention was snapped back to the screen when it vibrated. Well, at least I only had a missed call. I tapped on the little notification and saw that Claire had tried calling me earlier today. I had no idea what time it was over there, but I still tapped the call button. I let it ring before I heard someone pick up.

“Hello?” the voice asked. It definitely wasn’t Claire.

            “Niall?” I asked.

            “Kari?” he asked in response.

“Yeah, it’s me. Um, hi,” I said awkwardly.

“Um, hi. When Claire asked me to pick up her phone I wasn’t expecting you,” Niall admitted.

“I wasn’t exactly expecting you either,” I laughed a little. “Can I talk to Claire?”

            “Um yeah,” he said.

“Thanks Niall,” I said before I heard shuffling across the line.

“Kari?” an overly excited voice asked.

            “Hey,” I said sheepishly.

“I was starting to think we would never hear from you again,” she said.

“Yeah, well you’re going to be hearing more of me because Simon’s letting me come back for a day or two,” I told her.

            “Really? When are coming?”

            “My flight is tomorrow afternoon.”

“Oh my gosh! Can I tell everyone you’re coming?” Claire almost squealed.

            “No!” I practically yelled.

            “Why not?”

“Because a certain someone hates me,” I explain.

“Who? Harry? Kari, that couldn’t be farther from the truth,” Claire chuckled.

“But why wouldn’t he hate me? I basically snuck out a bathroom window and ran away from our date.”
