I tried my best to be discreet as I followed Dan down the sidewalks, but I was pretty sure he knew I was following him. He was obviously trying to get rid of me by ducking behind bushes and taking strange shortcuts, but I still continued to follow.
He was almost tripping with every step, and so was I as we ran through bushes where I couldn't exactly see my feet. Eventually we reached his house and I hid behind a tree, watching as he looked around to make sure I was gone. He scrambled for his keys and opened the door where I heard yells erupt from the house.
"Why are you late!"
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be! I ran like you ask-" Dan shut the door so I ran up to the house and peeked in the window, trying my best not to look like a stalker. I could just barely hear the muffled yells.
"Only by a few minutes!" Dan pleaded, curling back into the wall.
"Don't change the subject! It's still late!" His dad yelled. Dan winced as his dad's hand started to rise and Dan's cheek was red as it was hit.
"Please, don't," I could make out Dan's lips as he began to cry.
"Hide it," I saw his dad say as he left the room, leaving Dan crying as he held his already bruised cheek. I quickly ran up to the front door and opened it quietly, trying to get Dan to leave with me.
"I can't, he'll- I'll get in trouble." Dan began to shut the door when I pulled him out and shut it myself, than began dragging him down the street, running as fast as I could with a heave backpack. Once we reached my street we were both out of breath and Dan was still crying.
I fumbled with the keys as I unlocked my door, bringing Dan up to my room. We sat down and he curled in on himself again.
"I'm gonna get in trouble," He cried. I held him in my arms and pulled him against me tightly.
"No you're not, you can stay with me," I insisted.
"Eventually I have to go home, what about my mum?" Dan's sniffles lessened but I still hugged him tightly
"She's safe, he wouldn't let her know, right?" Dan nodded and hid his face in my shoulder.
"You can stay here forever." Dan sniffled and looked up at me, his eyes slightly puffy.
"Thanks Phil," He whispered. I nodded and my stomach filled with butterflies.
"No problem." Dan smiled slightly and his eyes seemed to sparkle. I noticed his cheek was turning black and blue, so I stood up.
"I'm going to go grab you ice." Dan nodded and slouched back into his seat. I sighed sadly and shut my bedroom door quietly.
"Why was Dan crying?" I yelped and turned around.
"You scared me!" Martyn laughed and pushed my arm.
"Is he okay?" I shook my head and scratched the back of my neck.
"He's gonna stay here for a while, but I don't know if I should tell you why. I don't think he would be comfortable with that."
"He's gonna stay here for a while, but no one can know why?" I nodded Martyn raised his eyebrow.
"Whatever, have fun explaining that to mum." I rolled my eyes and continued on my way to get Dan ice. I placed it in a plastic bag and brought it back upstairs. When I reached my room I saw Dan had a pen and paper and was writing.
"Sorry, but I left my notebook at home and suddenly got inspired." I giggled and handed him the ice.
"Can I read it?" I looked gave Dan puppy dog eyes and pouted but he just pushed my bottom lip away.
"No, not yet. I don't want people reading it yet."
"But I don't understand!" I groaned.
"I'll translate it for you, yo no quiero tú lees mi libro."
"I don't speak German," I complained. Dan rolled his eyes and continued writing.
"First off, that was Spanish, second I already knew that you don't speak German." I took the pen out of Dan's hands and he pouted.
"Give it back!" I shook my head and tucked the pen in my back pocket and sat on it.
"Now you'll never get it." Dan stood up and pulled me up with him.
"Wanna bet?" Dan smirked and placed the ice on my bed. He inched closer and his breath hit my
lips."Yeah." Dan pulled my forward and his lips hit mine suddenly. My hands reached up go through his hair and his went to my lower back. I tugged on his hair and he let his hands travel lower and lower until they were just above my jean pockets. I pulled him closer and our chests touched. Dan gasped and I felt something leave my pocket.
Dan pulled away and smirked. "I win." I pulled him back into my arms and kissed him again, which obviously took him by surprise because at first he didn't kiss me.
