"When you get to know someone, you'll learn exactly when, where, and how deep to cut."

I picked up my bag off the counter and grabbed my bottle of water, walking out the door.

"Phil!" My mum called before I was even half a step away.

"Yes?" I yelled inside. She rushed over and handed me my maths folder.

"You left this on the table," She said getting ready to shut the door.

"Thanks mum, bye!" I waved and turned around walking to school. Oh the joy of sixth form.

I realized my shoelace was untied, but when I was about to bend down to tie someone yelled behind me- "Nerd!" I tried not to laugh at the stupid "insult".

But when I saw who shoved past me my veins went hot and I stood up, pushing him out of my way.

"If you're going to call me such foolish names, at least be smart about where the hell you're going," I said, not bothering to turn around but could imagine the shocked look on his face. No one ever dares to make fun of 'The Great Howell'. Yes, capital letters and all.

I felt a push and someone muttered in my ear before rushing past. "Watch what you say Lester, don't want others catching your disease." He thought he could get away with that?

"At least I still have friends Dan, and not people who follow me everywhere, real friends." And I walked away before he could say anything further, because we both know the truth. He lost all his friends the day he ditched us.

"Hey Phil!" A slightly high voice said from behind me. I turned around and Zoe was there with a big smile on her face.

"Miss Zoella," I said as she laughed and we walked to class together. Before I walked in she muttered something like 'be right back' and rushed over to her boyfriend Alfie.

I chuckled and walked in taking my usual seat in the back, hiding myself from the teacher so I wouldn't get called on. I was smart, yes, but I was shy. Talking in front of the class just wasn't my thing.

"Alright everyone, settle down! I have to take attendance in peace," Said the teacher Miss Norber.

"Troye Sivan, Dan Howell, Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Tanya Burr, Phil Lester..." She said as she checked off the names on her list.

"Okay everyone, now before we get started we have a new student in our class. He is from Michigan but is here as an exchange student for the rest of the year. Please be kind and show him around." She said and a boy with bright green hair and soft blue eyes with glasses walked to the front. He stood out, in a good way.

"Hi, I'm Tyler!" He said cheerily, laughing as he blushed and somehow everyone seemed to like him. Especially Troye, as he was blushing beyond red and he couldn't stop smiling, but Tyler seemed to be the same towards him.

"Tyler you may sit down now," Miss Norber said in a bored tone and he rolled his eyes and almost snapped his fingers, but seemingly decided not to push his luck and just sat down. I spread small smile and the class was all giggling quietly at his rude yet funny behavior.

As usual, when the teacher was facing the board Dan turned back, raced to the back of the classroom with his things and sat next to Emma, his 'friend with benefits' I guess. Honestly, I don't know if Dan is a virgin or not, and I don't want to know. All I know his him and Emma have never once been on a date, yet they constantly kiss. But this time Dan sat next to me, and quietly moved the desk closer and closer till they were touching. I eyed him suspiciously but it was not meeting my eyes, trying to avoid them. I sighed and faced the front, not wanting to get in trouble.
