Before the chapter starts someone told me the picture on the side was real, so fingers crossed!
When I woke up the next day, I was extremely exhausted. I had hardly slept the night before because of nightmares, and my mind just wouldn't shut up.
I had to drag myself out of bed to go brush my teeth and take a shower. I would have slept later, but since Christmas was soon today was the day mum dragged us all to a Christmas parade. It used to be fun when I got to go with Dan, but now it was just plain awful and boring.
I put on a red and green plaid shirt and some black skinny jeans and ran down the stairs.
"Morning, Phil," My mum said while she made pancakes.
"Morning," I said as I sat down, almost falling asleep in the process.
"I have a surprise!" She said when my brother came down.
"What is it?" I asked, and she clapped her hands and smiled.
"I can't say, you'll have to wait," I sighed in annoyance as she continued to giggle to herself. That was so typical of her.
"Is breakfast almost done? I'm starved," My dad asked while flipping channels on the t.v.
"Yes hun, so could you please grab me some plates?" My dad sat up and got the plates for my mum, setting on the counter next to her. "Thank you."
Once we all finished breakfast the doorbell rang and my mum smiled. "My surprise is here!" My brother and I gave each other confused looks, but I almost chocked on my juice when she opened the door.
"No way," I said, trying not to throw up.
"This should be interesting," My brother said, standing up to put his plate in the sink. I stood up too, following him.
Okay now before I say, guess who it is!
"Hello Dan!" My mum said as he walked in behind his parents. He gave her a small smile and walked in, standing awkwardly by the door.
"Well go talk to him," My brother whispered, kicking my shin as I held in a whimper. It really hurt!
I walked over to Dan and looked down at my feet. "We can go upstairs if you want," I offered.
"Yeah, whatever Lester," He said, moving in front of me to go up the stairs. Okay, so now he was back to being rude. I sighed as I could already feel a headache coming on from how long this day was going to be, and ran up the stairs behind him.
When we walked in my room I sat on my bed and he sat on the desk chair.
"So now what?" He asked.
"I take a nap until we leave, so wake me up when it's time," I said lying down. He rolled his eyes and groaned.
"Way to be a good host," He moaned.
"Thanks, I try," I said as I held in a laugh, picturing the face he probably made when I said that. And then I drifted off.

"Get up Lester, we're leaving," Dan said as he shook my shoulder."What time is it?"
"Noon, so you slept for about two hours," I nodded as I sat up and stretched, getting up to go downstairs.
"Aren't you going to fix your bed?" Dan asked as we walked downstairs.
"No," I replied, pulling on my jacket and walking out the door.

The parade thing was kinda cool I guess, but it still seemed more fun when I was younger and there was actually stuff for me to do there. All that was there was a big Christmas tree were kids got to sit on Santa's lap, and I had to beg my mum to not make me do it. There was a "sleigh ride" which was a little train that has reindeer on the side, which was meant for kids who were 3. There was games and bounce houses and such, but the whole thing was aimed at families with little kids, so when we showed up to this, I got a bit disappointed. The only thing I actually really liked there was the light show, which was a tour of the back area and it was filled with tons of Christmas lights, and I mean a lot.
