THE TRUTH BEHIND THE LIES
Jay's POV
"She's steady but we're still monitoring her for some possible after effects. Right now, all I can do is to assure you that Safirah's fine."
"Oh my God.. thanks," I sighed in relief. Good to know that she's already stable. My sister has been through a lot today and knowing that she was already doing fine was calming. I didn't know what to do if she wasn't.
"Thanks, Doctor Santamesa," oh, I forgot that my grandfather was still here with Keanne. He told me when he saw me earlier that he will tell me everything and now's the great time to do it.
"About your explanation.." I started. He looked at me without any fear or such in his eyes. I glanced at Keanne when he glanced at me before diverting his gaze. "I would like to know everything now."
"This might not be the great-"
I cut him off. "It is."
He sighed before looking at me. I couldn't figure his emotions anymore. Is he caring about me? What is he playing? "You've been through a lot today, Jayden. You need to rest."
I avoided his eyes and looked somewhere after it landed on his eyes. I couldn't look at him the same way I did the past years anymore. "I will take a rest once I have the answers I needed."
He knew that I won't hold back so he nodded. He looked at Keanne before tapping him on his shoulder. "Please take care of my granddaughter."
"Yes, sir,"
I looked back and saw Keanne went inside the room. My grandfather took point while I followed him from behind as me used the elevator to go at the rooftop of this hospital.
The moment we arrived there, I felt the cold breeze of the night's air. So calming. I used that as an opportunity to take all the strength I will probably need after hearing his explanations.
He walked to the far end of the rooftop where a black rail was standing as the barricade. I walked slowly but I stopped behind him. I wouldn't like it if he will see my vulnerable side.
I gathered my strength in my as I tightened my fist. I'm sure that I will be hearing a lot of explanations with lots of parts that I wasn't expecting. "Begin from the start."
"When your parents died.." that's it. I was so certain about my hunch and I was right. Nagsisimula pa lang siya pero alam kong hindi ko kaya. I am so vulnerable when it comes to my parents.
"I was lost when I lost your father," he continued, looking down. One word. Pain. That was what I am feeling even if I was meters away from him.
"I was sure that his death, and your mother's.. had a foul play," my mouth gaped wide open while supressing myself to release the emotions building up inside me. Foul.. foul play. He never said that to us.
"You never said that, neither informing us about it," I told him, glad that my voice did not broke. He told me that they died from an accident on their way here from Canada.
I asked him that particular questions a lot of time but he just answered those questions the same way over and over again. Now, he's saying that they died the other way around. That's already too much to bear.
"Because I was scared because you might do something reckless," he told me, almost a whisper but I heard it right. Reckless? Hell, I was being so reckless the past years.
I wasn't in the mood to talk and he noticed it so he continued. "That's why I sent Xeno to check for any foul plays and guess what? There was. Just like I thought."
