When You Won't Be [Part 2/2]

|Hailey's P.o.v.|

Something different was in the air tonight and I couldn't quite figure it out. Standing there, looking around frantically at the cars and men, I knew there was a chance we weren't going to make it out without a scratch or two. They then forced our weapons away from us, we had no other choice to or they were going to shoot us right then and there. The man walks over to Carl who's standing right next to me and takes his gun. My breathing quickens as the man tries to talk to him but Carl just gives him a hard stare. Once taking his gun he makes a swift motion and flicks his hat upwards causing me to jump a little. The man shoots a look at me and begins to laugh.

Please just leave. Please just leave.

"That scared ya?" He asks in between a laugh. He then bends down to my face causing me to clench my jaw in order to come off intimidating but I know I lost that the moment I jumped from a hat flick.

"Then you have no idea what's coming for you." He growls. My stomach drops at his words.

Standing up he orders us to get on our knees. I look at Rick as he listens to the order which kind of surprised me but yet again it seems we have no choice. Rick and them get an ill Maggie down and placed her on the ground. Abraham on the right of her and Rick on the left. I watch as the others follow suit with Sasha on Ricks left, Rachael on her left, Ally on hers, then Aaron, then Carl, then me, and finally Eugene.

Why our knees? I thought as I glance over our group. Looking at Rick I notice a look of defeat which causes a pit of anxiety to enter my stomach. Usually in these situations he looks for away out but it's obvious to us all, there's no escaping this. I close my eyes and sigh, hoping they didn't get the rest of our group but I was wrong.

"Bring 'em out!" The man yells.

I open my eyes to see a man with one side of his face burnt bring out Daryl, Michonne, Rosita and then...

"Glenn!" I shout.

I hear Maggie gasp. His eyes go to me as they pull him out and for the first time in a very long time I saw him terrified. His eyes scan the line we're in and once he sees Maggie and calls for her Maggie loses it. I look at what form their in and Glenn is the last one completing the half circle with Rosita on his left, then Daryl, then Michonne who's on Abrahams right.

It's quiet besides the crickets and the gravel crunching underneath the man's boots.

"Alright, see how easy that was!" The man says. "Now let's meet the man!" He shouts walking to what was our RV and knocking on the door.

I watch as the door opens revealing a man who makes his way over into the light. The first thing I notice is the baseball bat he has leaning on his shoulder that's wrapped in barbed wire. That alone makes my heart drop to my stomach. I don't think that weapon is to kill walkers. A sudden lump forms in my throat at the thought but I swallow it down. I continue to scan the man, he has short black hair and a stubble on his chin. He's sporting skinny jeans and a black leather jacket.
