A/N: this is going back a long time and explaining new character back stories. I thought it would be interesting to add on to the origins of the Alexandria safe zone and go in depth. Enjoy :-)

We've been driving for an hour now and my legs were starting to cramp. We were on our way to the most amazing amusement park when tragedy struck back home. My family and I live in Ohio and I'm the youngest, along with my twin brother Alexander. We're 15.

"Ally, can you go on your phone and see how much longer we have?" My mom asks me. I would have to say my mom is very smart but when it comes to technology she isn't the brightest. That's my dad, he's an architect and he's pretty familiar with technology.

I do as my mom tells me but my phone won't connect to Google. This is weird, I have unlimited data.

"Uh...my phone isn't working." I say causing my mom to look at my dad.

"Oh that's fine. I'm sure we'll be there shortly." Dad tells her. Mom is anxious to get back home. She turns on the radio to distract her but to all of our surprises no music plays.

"What's going on?" Alexander asks. Dad shakes his head wondering the same thing himself. The radio is only admitting static so mom plays with it to try to get something.

"This is the emergency alert system. This is not a drill. Please stay inside at all times." The radio sounds make my ear drums want to pop. Dad pulls over making my two older brothers driving in the car behind us stop and pull over also.

"Dad, what's going on?" I ask worried. "What's the emergency?"

"I don't know but stay calm. We'll figure it out." Dad steps out of the car along with mom and I'm left with a shockingly calm Alexander. He's looking at his phone screen and his eyes could pop out of his head.

"Alex?" I ask poking his shoulder. He's stiff, he seems to be in shock. I lean closer to see what he was watching, I suppose the phones started working. It's a live news broadcast and it's terrifying. There's people attacking people, I've never seen anything like it before.

"Are they okay?" I ask. Alexander shrugs at my question. I direct my gaze to my parents and brothers outside discussing what to do. I open the car door and get out.

"Ally get back into the car." Dad tells me.

"Mom, there's something wrong. Alex got service and is streaming a live news broadcast." I say. "People are like coming back and attacking."

Mom gasps and looks taken back. "I have to get back to Ohio! They need me."

Mom is a Congress person for Ohio, 15th district.

"We need to go." She says again. I get back into the car and buckle up.

"I think we're going home." I say to Alex.

He nods and sighs, "The phone went out again."

Mom and Dad get back in and we start driving again. It wasn't long until big trucks stopped us in our journey. My dad slowly pulls up to one and rolls down his window.

"Is there a problem?" Dad asks them.

"We can't let you guys go any further, it's not safe. We have a place that we're directing everyone to." They hand my dad a map through the window and he takes it.

"My wife needs to get back to Ohio. Is there any way you can make an exception?" Dad asks. Mom looks towards the man also with hopeful eyes.

"I'm sorry but it's orders. It isn't that far from here. We will be back later to check up on things. Good luck." The trucks drive away leaving us all worried.
