When I first found out that I was going to have a baby, I began to mentally plan out all the things that I wanted to do while pregnant. Throwing a gender reveal was at the top of the list until that was ruined by the doctor telling me the gender during a check up.
The positive thing that came from me finding out the gender early is that I have been able to shop for my son. He will obviously be sleeping in our room so Jon assembled the bassinet before he left for rehab but I have been doing a lot of shopping for the nursery.
We will be using the nursery for cuddles, reading and playtime before he is at the age when he can sleep in that room. I never pictured myself being a mother so the whole pregnancy and preparation leading up the birth has been pretty interesting.
"Have you thought of a name yet?" Jordana asks as she pours the dressing onto her salas while I give mine a good shake.
"Jon often jokes that we'll name our son after him so John Jr but that's a hard no." I pull a face while continuing to shake my salad. "I want to give him a unique but not like a celebrity name."
"I was struggling to find names for my twin boys." Amerie says while eating her sala. "I wanted to pay homage to Joe's Samoan background but I also wanted the twins to have names that people could pronounce. Joseph jr and Thomas are cute names but I won't say that they are my favorite names in the world."
Jordana gasps, "Amerie."
We all laugh.
