tw: homophobia, slurs, violence, mentioning of blood

Steve was working the front counter at Family Video, and Robin had left a few hours before. It was ten minutes until he could close the store, and he was just waiting to get out of there. He wanted the night to go by faster, just so he could see Eddie again. Ever since they had been somewhat intimate with each other, they couldn't stay away from each other for more than a day.

Steve started to shut the lights off when he saw a car pull up in the parking lot. He groaned in annoyance when he thought it was a customer coming in to buy a last minute movie. A few minutes passed and no one exited the car.

"Great, people having sex in the parking lot. Lovely," Steve mumbled to himself, shutting the main lights off and leaving the store. As he locked the door, he heard footsteps behind him.

"Harrington! Long time, no see," he heard a voice he never thought he would hear again.

"Jason. What's up?" Steve forced a smile, he just wanted to turn and leave but didn't want to cause any trouble with Jason.

"Rumor's going around that you've been hanging around the freak," Jason laughed, and Steve cringed slightly at that statement.

"Who?" Steve questioned, knowing he was talking about Eddie, but not feeding into Jason's attempt to get a rise out of him.

"Are you kidding? Who else would I be talking about? Munson!" Jason raised his eyebrows and crossed his arms.

"You mean Eddie? Yes, we're friends," Steve shrugged, not understanding why Jason was talking to him about Eddie.

"You're friends with him?" Jason sneered, making a disgusted face. "You know he's a queer right?"

Steve froze as he felt his face getting hot with anger. He hated that Jason had insulted Eddie. His hand formed into a fist, but Steve tried to stay calm. "Let's not call people names, okay? We're basically adults, it's childish."

"You're defending him? He's a faggot," Jason rolled his eyes, and that made Steve angrier than ever.

"What did you call him?" Steve muttered, roughly grabbing Jason by his shirt.

"I said he's a faggot," Jason spat in Steve's face, and Steve shoved him away, almost pushing him to the ground.

"Get the hell out of here before you regret it," Steve pushed past Jason and started to walk to his car, his blood boiling.

"What happened, Harrington? You're defending the queers now?" Jason yelled across the parking lot, and that was the final straw for Steve.

He walked back over to Jason and punched him as hard as he possibly could. Jason bounced back quickly and swung at Steve, landing a blow on his eye. Jason landed a few more punches at Steve, and Steve managed to kick Jason over, making him fall to the ground.

"Don't talk about Eddie like that," Steve snapped, touching his lip lightly and wincing as he realized it was bleeding. He spat out the blood in his mouth and walked to his car, driving away before Jason could antagonize him again.

He drove to Eddie's trailer. All he wanted to do was see him.

As he pulled up, he heard metal blaring from inside the trailer. He smiled slightly and shook his head, getting out of his car. He knocked on the door, and a few seconds went by before the music stopped. The door opened and Steve was pulled inside.

"God, what happened, Stevie?" Eddie lightly touched  Steve's face, and Steve winced.

"Nothing, just a little fight," Steve mumbled, touching his lip again, feeling a deep cut.
