09.

Steve woke up the next morning to Eddie snoring softly beside him. His head throbbed, and he winced in pain. He went to sit up, and instantly laid back down, groaning. Getting punched in the face definitely hurt worse the day after.

"Are you okay?" Eddie mumbled, turning to face Steve and reaching for his hand.

"Everything hurts," Steve whispered, closing his eyes. Even the light was making his headache so much worse.

"Your eye doesn't look too good, it's bruising pretty badly," Eddie noticed, sitting up to take a closer look.

"My whole head feels like it's bruised," Steve muttered, rolling over so his head was buried in Eddie's chest.

Eddie laughed softly and gently ran his ring-clad fingers through Steve's hair. Steve let out a sigh and wrapped both arms around Eddie's torso, pulling their bodies closer together.

"Let me get some ice for your eye, Stevie," Said the long haired brunette, and Steve instantly shook his head.

"You can't leave," was all he said, tightening his grip on Eddie.

Of course, Eddie gave in to Steve's request. He didn't want to leave either, he wanted Steve to hold him like that forever. He felt bad about the night before still, about that fact that Steve got into a fight and was hurt because of him. Eddie knew that Steve had started it, but he still felt as if it was his fault.

After all, Eddie knew everything was somehow his fault.

His parents kicked him out when the found out he was gay, and traveled through two states to get to Hawkins, Indiana, where he found his uncle. Uncle Wayne was the only other person who knew Eddie's past, and still loved him regardless. Wayne had gotten hurt once trying to defend Eddie's honor, and now Steve had done the same thing.

Eddie hated that two of the most important people to him got hurt because they were defending him. Him. The freak.

"What are you thinking about?" Eddie was pulled out of his thoughts, and glanced over at Steve, giving him a small smile.

"I'm sorry," was all Eddie said, and Steve's face changed instantly.

"For?"

"You got into that fight with Jason because of me. You were defending me," Eddie let out a sigh, and Steve frowned.

"I defended you because you mean a lot to me. I stand up for the people I care about," Steve explained.

"But now you're hurt. Because of me," Eddie mumbled, looking away in shame. He felt like he should be ashamed of himself, of who he was.

Jason was right. He's a queer.

"Eddie, stop blaming yourself. Jason started it, and I ended it. I would do it again in a heartbeat," Steve rested his hand on the back of Eddie's neck, gently rubbing it with his thumb. "You don't deserve to be insulted like that."

Eddie was close to tears. It had been a long time since someone other than Wayne had cared this much about him. Steve was willing to get punched in the face for him, and to Eddie, that meant more than Steve would ever know.

"You mean a lot to me, you know that?" Eddie whispered, making eye contact with Steve.

"You mean a lot to me too, Eds."

Steve had to eventually go back to work, leaving Eddie alone in his trailer. His uncle wouldn't be back for another day or so, and Eddie felt particularly lonely. He knew he needed to put the final touches on the D&D campaign he was planning, but didn't have the motivation. He just wanted to spend all of his free time with Steve, but knew that it wasn't realistic to see Steve all of the time.

They weren't even officially dating. Just obsessed with each other and hooking up sometimes. Normal things that friends do.

Eddie was relaxing on his couch, smoking a joint, when he heard a knock at the door. Eddie opened the door to Dustin, and was greeted with a wave.

"Eddie! Finish the D&D campaign yet?" Dustin pushed his way inside, and Eddie laughed.

"Hello to you too, Henderson," Eddie shook his head, taking a hit off his joint. "No, I'm not finished yet. It's almost done."

"It's in two days! You have to finish it!" Dustin pressed, and Eddie rolled his eyes.

"You think I don't know that?" Eddie suppressed a laugh and made his way into his small kitchen.

"I stopped by Steve's work. He really got fucked up by someone. He won't tell me who though," Dustin rambled on, and Eddie froze.

"It was Jason Carver," Eddie muttered under his breath in annoyance, exhaling the smoke he was holding in.

"What did Jason want with Steve?" Dustin seemed to be confused, trying to keep Eddie's attention on him.

"Not sure. All I know is that Steve got into a fight with him," Eddie lied directly to Dustin's face. He wasn't ready to tell Dustin the truth about himself yet. Not that he didn't trust the kid, but he just had a lot to focus on at the moment.

When Dustin eventually left, Eddie decided he wanted to call Family Video, wanting to talk to Steve.

"Family Video, this is Steve," a familiar voice picked up the phone, and Eddie smiled.

"Hey, handsome."

"Eddie, hi," Eddie could almost hear him smiling on the other end. "Miss me already?"

"Of course I do," Eddie laughed, leaning against the wall as he spoke. "Can I come over after your shift?"

"You know I wouldn't say no to you," Steve laughed, and Eddie laughed with him. Steve always knew how to put him in a good mood.

"Good, you shouldn't," Eddie teased in a slightly dark voice. He knew Steve was blushing on the other end.

"Save that energy for later, Munson," Steve said quietly into the phone, and Eddie chuckled lightly.

"I'll see you later, Harrington."

Steve heard Eddie's van pull into the driveway, and waited until Eddie got up the front door. He swung the door open and pulled Eddie inside, closing the door and grabbing Eddie by the shirt, pulling him into a slightly rough kiss.

Eddie was taken slightly by surprise, but kissed him back anyway, smiling against Steve's lips and snaking his arms around his waist. Once the two pulled away, Eddie cupped Steve's face in his hand.

"Sorry I'm late, sweetheart," Eddie said softly, which made Steve want to fall to his knees in front of him. Eddie knew how to make him flustered.

"Always a flirt," Steve shook his head, taking Eddie by the hand and pulling him up the stairs.

"Where are you taking me, Harrington?" Eddie laughed as he stumbled behind Steve, struggling to keep up. Steve just continued to pull Eddie up to his room and shut the door.

"Come here," Steve motioned for Eddie to come over to him, and Eddie did so. Steve grabbed him by the shirt with both hands, pulling him into a rather rough kiss.

Eddie smirked against Steve's lips and firmly pushed Steve against the wall, his hands on his waist. Steve's hands traveled to Eddie's hair, lightly tugging, earning a groan from Eddie. Eddie's hand slowly moved up to Steve's neck, and he lightly grabbed his neck as Steve bit down on his bottom lip.

"Is this okay?" Eddie whispered, not wanting to scare Steve off.

"Yes," Steve nodded, and Eddie pulled him by the neck into another rough kiss. Eddie was slightly surprised that Steve was enjoying being lightly choked, but couldn't judge, since Eddie himself was into some freaky stuff.

Eddie slowly let go of Steve's neck and started to leave kisses down his face, neck, and shoulders. He bit down lightly, earning a groan from Steve. Eddie smirked at the sound.

He loved that sound.
