Max's pov:
I got up and opened the garage door to see Lucas's grandma staring at us angrily. I looked at Lucas while thinking that we were still covered in blood, we didn't even clean up our wounds. Erica looked worried as fuck and so did Lucas. I just stood there looking at her a little smile on my face.
"Say goodbye to your friend and let's go" she said looking at them.
"But meemaw! Max needs us!" Erica replied.
"I'm not talking about this sweetheart" she said placing softly her hand under my head lifting it. "I'm talking about the nice person who let you stay here for the night, now it's 5 am and me and your peepaw are tired, go wake him up and greet him" she ordered. "Then we'll talk" she declared giving us all angry looks. We climb the stairs to Tom's room and entered.
"Pss Tom!" Lucas whispered yell.
"What" Tom asked in annoyance. "Oh hi" he said much more nicely when he opened his eyes.
"We're leaving my meemaw's taking us to her house" Erica explained.
"OH NO!" he whispered yell. "You owe me lots of explanation" he declared sitting up crossing his arms.
"Later!" Lucas insisted.
"I'm coming on the second week of vacation to Hawkins. You'll tell me then" he mumbled.
"Okay!" Erica said.
"Thank you for letting us stay" I told him looking at my feet.
"No problem guys" he smiled. We exited the room, took our stuff from the basement and followed their grandparents to their car. Once at their house they ordered us to sit on the couch.
"So..." their grandma started. "Sorry mom and dad I'm going early with Erica to Cali to see Max, Love Lucas?" she quoted the note Lucas left to his parents. Lucas gulped and looked at Erica. "Erica you went with your brother why exactly?" she asked her giving a shocked look.
"So this butthead wouldn't get in trouble" she calmly declared.
"Hey!" Lucas exclaimed.
"Shush" his grandmother cut him. "So this note is supposed to make it okay?" she questioned.
"No meemaw" Lucas said looking down.
"Now Max" she started looking elsewhere. I started panicking, it was making me stress, I didn't want her to hate me. Lucas took my hand in his and paced it, sending relief throughout my all body. "Why are you and Lucas covered in blood and bruised everywhere?" she interrogated.
"We were playing with Halloween make up" I excused by a gigantic lie.
"Uh uh" she said raising her eyebrows looking at me in disbelief. "Try again" she declared.
"I..uh..." I started getting nervous, I couldn't tell her the truth. I started shacking legs and looked at the table in front of me zoning out, remembering everything that had happened. "Fuck" I said out of breath.
"Excuse me?" she exclaimed.
"Sorry...I...uh" I mumbled trying to catch my breath. Lucas placed his hand under my chin turning it. He looked at me calmly with a small smile.
"It's okay" he whispered. I took a deep breath and calmed myself in a quick second.
"Sorry about that" I chuckled looking at all of them. "It's a long story but it's nothing" I smiled.
"Max! I swear to the fucking God if you tell that it's OKAY or NOTHING one more time!" Erica started yelled.
"Calm down!" I yelled back. "It's not a big DEAL" I continued.
