" what are we going to do?" Asked soda cookie, he was by sparkling's side at the table. Which the cookies at the time were using to plan their next move on the cookies of darkness, everyone in Madeline's tiny home had gathered around to hear how they we're going to protect their kingdom and their homes. " we could use some extra hands" Herb mumbled, thinking out loud. There we're a few cookies at the bar but he doubted they had enough number to take on a whole army. Espresso and Madeleine had joined the table recently they hadn't missed much of the battle plan up they could see that sparkling had made a rough idea of where they where, they knew that the cookies of darkness where heading towards the castle they just had to find a way to stop them before they stormed the place and broke it down into tiny little crumbling pieces.
" I agree with herb" Espresso added, " we don't know how many is out there, plus more cookies could be in danger as we speak" all the cookies knew they we're running out of time.. " maybe the best thing to do is to spilt up into groups and search the city for more survivors" sparkling suggested, espresso nodded as they other seemed to think. " oooooooooo" A squeak came from behind soda, he turned to see sorbet " hey buddy, what's up?" he asked " got an idea?" " ooooooooo!" Sorbet pointed tot he tiny castle on the table " the castle?" sparkling confirmed a bit confused. " ooooo" Sorbet drew three teams out on a piece of paper and place it down in front of the castle " you want us to spilt up and flank pomegranate and the cookies of darkness at the castle s they have no means of escape?" Soda asked looking over sorbet shoulder " oo!" sorbet nodded squeaking happily. " you got that from that?" Sparkling asked, even more confused then ever. " I've had a lot of practice at this" Soda shrugged " me and sorbet have been friends for along time" he explained with a smile " ooooo" Sorbet squeaked again turning to give soda a high five. " it's not a bad plan" espresso says leaning over the table slightly, " but we could still need extra help"
" then it's settled " Madeleine interrupted, pulling on espresso's sleeve to bring him closer. " do you want to come with me?" He whispers, but espresso isn't sure why. But smiles at the Knight " sure" he says a slight sigh in his voice. " will spilt into teams and search the town for survivors first " he explains and looks towards sorbet and soda " me and espresso will pair up to take one side of the city, soda and sorbet can you take the other half?" He asks " ooooooo!" Sorbet squeals wanting to help and soda giggles slightly at him " got it covered" he says smiling
Madeleine gives a nod " sparkling" he points " I want you to hold down to Fort here, " won't let you down commander" sparkling says with a wink and a little salute. With that he turns back to espresso " come on, we don't have much time"
Espresso borrows one of Madeline's coats as they head out the door, it being late in the kingdom now it's quite cold. The coat is a soft white with golden buttons and is slightly gold on the edges on the sleeves, espresso wasn't fond of the colour white but he did make this look good. Though it did have one draw back... it was about double the size of espresso normal clothes. Needless to say when Madeline saw his eyes light up! He wanted to hold him so badly in that moment, to protect him but he did laugh just a little bit.
" what's with the face?" Espresso said shutting the door behind them. " nothing" Madeleine giggled a little " the coats just a bit big on you" espresso couldn't help but blush as they started to walk. Some date this had turned out to be... he sighs " what's up?" Madeleine asks rather casually seeing as they are about to walk right back into a war zone. " nothing" espresso sighs again and takes a pause. And the silence hold for a moment... Madeleine didn't want push espresso he just wanted to give him the time to speak;
" I was just thinking... that this has been a pretty crummy date" espresso finally breaks the silence. As they continue to walk Madeleine a step closer by his side " hey..." he says and takes espresso hand getting espresso to look up towards him " this has been an amazing date, because I've been with you " they both smile at each other and espresso squeezes Madeline's " thanks maddie" he says softy. " any time gorgeous..." Madeleine says but the words hit him as soon as they left his mouth. He didn't mean to say that!
Espresso looks surprised even stopping in his tracks for a moment " what did you just say?" He asks, he doesn't let go of Madeline's hand in fact he's holding so tight that Madeleine has to stop so he doesn't pull poor espresso along " I ehhhhh' blush spreds across both their face's " we should really keep going " Madeleine chuckles again nervously " please.. just say it again " espresso pleas softy to him. Madeleine smiles softly " gorgeous " he says again and espresso can't help but beam. And starts to walk again, just until he's a step ahead of Madeline " thanks handsome " he whispers to him. Madeleine blushes a deep red but espresso is already off!
Starting to walk pulling Madeleine along with him slightly until the realisation kicks in and he Catches up to be by his side. All the while espresso has refused to let go of his hand, Madeleine feels warm inside as they walk side by side. This is almost like a date in itself, but Madeline's mind still has worries in it. He thinks about back and the house how chilli proposed to rye. How he may never get the chance to do that with espresso.... and as he looks at the shorter mage he wants to tell him something... but he knows its too soon.
But if he doesn't say it now, he thinks... he might not get another chance to say it again. " espresso..." his voice crooked slightly under the pressure, they we're almost in the middle of town now. And There wasn't much time left.. " hmmm" espresso hums in response." I know that this is sudden...." he stammers feeling his heat Starting to rise. He can feel sweat forming with just one sentence; espresso looks at him. His brown eyes seem so deep and now sparkel in the moonlight " I... I... I...." he trys to find his words. Come on Madeleine you can do this! He thinks;
" I... he breaths....
" I COULD USE A LITTLE HELP HERE!" a sudden voice booms from the near distance. " that sounds like twizzly gummy! " espresso says turning towards the voice. Madeleine looks into the distance and seems to losse his train of thought " come on maddie" espresso gives him a pull towards the sound, " annoying or not we better go help her" he says and Madeleine follows closer still tightly gripping onto espresso. He might not be able to say what he wants... but he promises to himself to never let go.
