The darkness continuously expanded in the sky, swallowing the last bit of effulgence that the winter stars emitted.

Soon enough, the lights of an unfamiliar vehicle loomed out of the darkness, and Y/n immediately froze on the spot, stopping even the simple process of breathing.

A man and a woman simultaneously left the car that so abruptly parked right in front of her, and even if the girl somehow succeeded in forcing herself to commence running away, her muscles would quickly fail her.

„Good evening, L/n Y/n.”

Her eyes instantly widened at the sight of a familiar face. The woman was none other than her new geography professor.

I have to run.

„Would you be so kind to get into the car on your own? You certainly don't want to cause any trouble and maybe even end up hurting yourself in the process, right?” she spoke with that same sly smile plastered across her face, the one she continuously displayed in school.

The man merely stood in silence, his stoical gaze causing a shiver to run up her spine.

Move, legs! Please! Just this once! I have to run away!

But she couldn't. It was almost as if her feet had become one with the concrete she was standing on, the concrete already covered in the snow.

The sensation of the cool night breeze brushing against her cheeks sent yet another shiver up her spine, and she had realized that in the extremity of her terror, she had begun to tremble uncontrollably.

„Get in the car,” the man growled quietly, and Y/n couldn't even look him in the eyes anymore.

Her gaze was now glued to the suffocating darkness painted across the night sky, and her throat and lips felt dry.

„Come on, Y/n, we don't have much time to mess around with you,” the woman said, making a few steps towards her as a ghastly grin formed on her face, „at least not here.”

Once the woman took hold of Y/n's left forearm, pulling her roughly towards the car, the sudden appearance of white lights covering the man and woman, as well as herself, startled her.

However, she was unable to react.

„Freeze!” a vehement voice uttered, „Raise your hands, now!”

The woman glanced up at the man and then at the four policemen standing a few metres away from them, each one of them pointing their guns at the two.

„I said raise your hands or we will shoot!”

The woman reluctantly let go of Y/n, raising her hands gradually while the man hesitated for a moment longer, promptly taking hold of the young girl instead.

He then pressed a knife near her neck, and the girl's trembling immediately worsened.

„That's not a smart idea, Danzo.” a familiar voice said, and the taller man promptly turned his head to the left, sighting a gun pointed directly at his forehead.

„Naoto,” he mumbled lowly.

The other merely kept staring at him stoically, preparing to pull the trigger at any moment.

„You used to be a good guy, Danzo. This is not like you at all.”

„What do you even know about me?” he muttered, glaring directly at his once good friend's eyes.
