Her throat closed up, soon a shuddering breath escaped Raine's parted lips. "Good morning, Sir Bruxen."

"Morning" Mikhail smiled in a tight-lipped manner.

That easily her mind was flooded with yesterday's events. Funny thing is, it wasn't just yesterday. It has already been a week since their last conversation. Time really flew fast, didn't it? Or did it? Why does when you want it to pass quickly, seconds feel like hours and days into eternity?

She was soon pulled back into reality as a gentle breeze caresses her long locks.

After a long tiring road trip from Manila there's really nothing like fresh air and stretching your limbs out from hours of sitting inside a confined vehicle.

Today was a bright sunny day. The sky shone blue as reflected by the raging waters. The soft white sand stretched for miles along the crystal blue waves crashing against the shore washing off footprints from the sand like a new canvas.

There was something about the sea that caught everyone off guard, loud yet peaceful. The warm salty breeze blew tunefully accompanying laughter and cheers of beach goers. Surfers float boundlessly according to the wind's command.

"You guys aren't kidding! This place is perfect. I can't believe Raine grew up here." Manuel said, looking around in fascination.

"I didn't. My mother did." Raine corrected.

Even though she tried her best not to look at him, her eyes would directly dart towards him again and again. She couldn't help but notice his face looked only like a lifeless mask. There were dying embers in his eyes.

"Baler is breathtaking..." Mikhail sighed, before dusting off a large rock to sit on.

"Simply a paradise! Raine and I used to compete in surfing competitions!" Khalil beamed proudly. "I always win though."

"Yeah! Second place." She laughed off with a smug smile.

"You know how to surf?!" Manuel animatedly hollered over her shoulder.

"She does!" Khalil began. "But then—"

"I started getting motion sickness for some reason. I haven't touched a surfboard in years."

"I want to surf." Mikhail smiled in a playful manner, extending his arms to reach for Manuel as he got up.

"How about we team up!" Manuel suggested.

"Manuel!" Raine groaned in disapproval. "I told you, I can't"

"Come on now, Ms. Raine! You wouldn't want to be the party pooper don't you?!" Mikhail chuckled cunningly, raising a brow as if challenging her.

"Game on!" She hissed. "Khalil and I against—"

"Hey, that's not fair!" Manuel said. "You two need to teach us first, before we compete!"

"Yeah... teach us first." Mikhail mocked.

"How about rock, paper, scissors to settle the team?" Khalil proposed. "Winner gets to choose."

Raine leaned in, fists forward, squinting her eyes as if posing a game position.

"Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!"

"HAH!" She huffed over at Khalil. "I choose Manuel!"

"Yeah... I thought so." Mikhail gritted under his breath.
