Tory was wide awake when I entered the tent. He was looking heavenwards and had his shirt off. I was a bit baffled as to why Kristen and I couldn’t have shared a tent but then Dylan let me in on a secret. Something was going on between Ezra and Kristen but they weren’t dating. He found it kind of odd but I couldn’t judge anyways. Ronan and I weren’t dating but we weren’t friends either.

“It's hot.” He spoke as soon as I laid down.

“We can't open the flap. Mosquitoes will declare war.”

“I don’t like camping.” He grumbled.

“Then why'd you come?”

“I wasn’t going to leave you alone.” He said softly. I turned to him and smiled. He awkwardly looked away.

“Would you want to go on a trip with me?” I finally asked what I had been meaning to ask for a long time.

“Where?” He turned to me.

“Just here and there. Roaming the places. No point in the destination.” I shrugged. But he sighed.

“Babe, I am broke. I still need to work for at least three more months until I have saved up enough for college.”

“The trip is a gift. From me to you.”

“Hell no. I am not going for free.” He frowned and turned away.

“Tory,” I whined. “Please?” I said to his back.

“Darla.” He warned. I fake slapped his head before I put my act on.

“I always wanted to go with mom but she never did come. I finally found a good friend, someone I would love to go on the trip with. I guess that dream will remain just a dream.” I mumbled and turned to the other side. I waited in silence for a few minutes before he signed.

“Alright.” He said lowly. I grinned and hugged his back.

“Thank you. I promise you won’t regret it.”

“I better not. Why didn’t you go with Ronan boy?”

“He has college, and I can’t ask him to freeze his semester to stay and watch me heal. No, I need to finish my therapy and you need to finish your job and then we will go on a trip. We have a year. We will enjoy it and then we will apply to college.”

“You’ll tag me along there too?” He acted like he didn’t like it.

“If you got in the aerospace engineering program, I will,” I said and he turned to me and smiled.

“Alright.”

The hike the next day was so strenuous that I almost died. I guess this was the reason dad took me home back then. This place was the one that could give fever. Remember when I taunted Ezra, yeah. Now I was with him.

He and I took breaks after every two minutes and chugged down so much water that I had to pee now. I huffed and grabbed Ezra's arm.

“I’ll die. Let’s take a break.” I panted and sat down on the nearest rock.

“It hasn’t even been two minutes!” Dylan shouted.

“Well fuck you. Not everyone can be the unholy offspring of a mountain lion.” I spat back. Ezra just gulped down water. My whole body was sweaty. Tory sat down a little higher than me. Kristen and Dylan were at the front. Then there was Tory. Ronan looked fucking hot standing next to me. He was wearing a white shirt and had the sleeves rolled up. His hair was damp from when moments ago I poured water on his head for laughing at me.
