I didn’t know why Ducky would do something like that. And neither did Dr.Kimberly when I told her about it. She called me a day earlier than our therapy day. And she had me take some tests with some poking and peeing in a cup.
“Have you been adjusting with Ronan around?” She asked as we both walked towards her office. Today, she had another patient scheduled. So she just had a little time before they came with me and oversaw the tests. I still don’t know what they are for.
“Yes. I think so. His friends are cool.”
“You met his friends? That’s a very good thing. What about Tory?”
“Yeah. Tory and I have a plan to eat dinner together tonight if things go my way.” Dr.Kimberly smiled at my commitment plans. She also told me she was proud of me for trying. And fuck, that is what I have always wanted to hear from someone. All this time, nothing had hit home like her words. All I wanted to hear from someone was that it was alright to be a bit mad. And that I would be okay.
She left for her session, and I left for home. That demonic summer house has somehow become home. I had a goal for today. No matter what, complete the diary. Even if I had to let the fire burn around in my house. So that's what I did. And while going back, I bought some popcorn for myself because I wanted to have them for a while. And then I made my favorite smoothie while watching the two cats in my small backyard. These were the same two cats that were fighting with Silver. I found out right now that they are a couple and they have three little kittens in the shed around the back. I gave them some milk in the morning. And now, both of them were out with their kittens, playing and basking in the hot sun. I named them Mr. Nibbles and Mrs. Nibbles and family.
My smile dropped when I saw Silver come out of nowhere and attack one of the kittens. The mother attacked him and I sprinted outside.
“Silver,” I shouted as they kept fighting. I impulsively picked him up and he ended up scratching my arm. Pretty deeply. Fuck! I just wanted to read the damned diary.
“Silver.” I scolded him as I carried him inside after making him apologize to the family. “You naughty boy. Look what you did to my arm.” I was bleeding. Not profoundly but still, it stung. I had gotten scratches from cats before and I knew I would have to get shots. And I was not driving to the hospital on my scooter. My alarm blasted from my phone reminding me to take my pills or else my head would start exploding. I had been getting such frequent headaches because I didn’t eat my medicines on time. I had to eat one in the morning, afternoon, and evening. And then I had to take two other pills too, I didn’t know what they were for but I had a bunch of colorful ones. One was a relaxant, I knew that one. One was for wherever the headaches got too much. But I avoided these medicines because they made me groggy. But feeling groggy was better than having my skull bashed in by hammers and then hit by a wrecking ball. I put Silver down and he ran away. I perched on the bar stool and sipped the heavenly smoothie. I finished it hurriedly and went to find where that evil munchkin went. He was cleaning himself near the window in the gaming room. I picked him up and marched to his owner. I was kind of angry and kind of groggy. It was a dangerous kind of emotion. I rang the bell and then rang it two more times. Nobody opened the door.
I had never been madder in my life. Did he not realize his cat was missing? I grabbed the key from the lamp and went inside. I put him in Ronan's room without letting it affect me that I was again trespassing. Then I locked the house behind me and marched toward the beach. I was right. They were on the beach. All of them were sitting around together and Kristen was laughing at something while Ezra made a face.
“Fucking hell, Ronan. Now you don’t care about your mother’s cat?.” I mumbled to myself and walked over to them. Kristen saw me first.
“Darla!” She shouted my name like she was happy to see me. I smiled at her before looking back at Ronan. He looked up at me from where he was laying down. I tried not to look at his bare chest and at those big hazel eyes that were shining under the sun.
