Chapter Twelve
What about you and Nat?
"So, what has your having...cancer...got to do with you and Nat?" Lou asked, wiping at her eyes.
"That's why I broke up with him." I whispered. "I didn't want him to...grieve over me...when I'm gone, if you get what I mean."
"Yeah. You wanted him to be happy, meet someone else, sorta' thing."
"Exactly."
"That is so kind of you. I don't think I'd be able to do that, personally. I'm, like, honoured to be your friend." Lou smiled at me. I smiled back.
"Thanks." I said. "So, you're not going to tell anyone? Not Nadine or Frances or Nat?"
"No." Lou whispered after a sigh.
"You really want to tell someone, don't you?"
"Nat."
"You can't tell him! You can't! You promised!" I said, getting off of the bed and saying it a bit too quickly.
"I won't, don't worry." Lou got off of the bed and put her hand on my shoulder.
I took a deep breath and said "D'you wanna' stay over tonight?"
Lou nodded and said "I'll call mum and tell her. Thanks." I smiled and went downstairs to order in pizza.
"Cheese or pineapple?" I shouted up the stairs.
"I don't mind." Lou called back.
"I'll have a large pineapple pizza, a thing of chips and two bottles of coke, please." I said into the phone, ordering the pizza. "Ummm, can I have that delivered please?" I said when the pizza guy asked if I was picking my order up. I put the phone down and went upstairs to grab a spare pair of PJs for Lou. I pulled them out of a draw and passed them to her. She smiled and headed into the bathroom. "There's a new toothbrush in the wicker basket, use that if you want." I called out to her.
"Thanks." She yelled back. I put on my own PJs and took the pillows and duvet off of my double bed and took them downstairs into the lounge. I put them on the sofa and got a few girly films, out of the cupboard, for us to watch.
When Lou came down, I said "Large pineapple pizza, fries, two bottles of coke, Letters To Juliet, Whip It, Valentines Day, P.S I Love You, Confessions Of A Shopaholic, a huge duvet and pillows. We're all set for the night. Oh, and a box of tissues. What d'ya' think?"
"You rock, you know that don't you?" Lou smiled at me and then came over to hug me.
When the doorbell rang, Lou looked out the window and said "I'm not getting it, it's a guy." I smiled and went to the door. I opened the door and saw the delivery guy. He was gorgeous.
I saw him look me up and down whilst saying "Mel Green?"
"Yes. And my eyes are up here." I said, with a grin while pointing to my eyes. I laughed to myself about the fact that I was in a skin tight cami and hot pants shorts. His cheeks started to blush.
"Your delivery." He said, handing me the bag.
"Thank you." I smiled. I took the bag and said "How much is that?"
"Fifteen fifty." He stated, struggling to hold eye contact.
"Lou!" I shouted.
She came towards me, in a pair of loose trousers and a T-shirt, pulled me out of the door way and whispered "Tease him. He can't keep his tongue in his mouth." I nodded. "When you take Sal's handbag, put it on the second step of the stairs and bend over to get the purse out, pretend you're looking for it. In those shorts, he'll be dribbling like a baby." I laughed and went into the hallway.
I took Sal's bag off of the hook, smiled at the delivery guy, turned and put it on the second step of the stairs. I then bent over, letting him get a good view, and rummaged through the handbag. Taking Sal's purse out, I pulled out a twenty pound note. I handed it to him with a cheeky grin and shook my head lightly at the look on his face. He rummaged through a bumbag and handed me my change. I smiled and said "Thanks." I then paused and said "And, by the way, I hoped you enjoyed the show. Meet me in the back garden on Tuesday and you might get some more." I winked, saw his cheeks blush, turned and put the purse away. I hung up the hand bag and smiled at him. Then, I lent forwards, showing my boobs slightly, and whispered "Girls are people, not play things. We're not here to be drooled on." I closed the door and Lou and I sat on the sofa eating pizza, chips and drinking coke while watching Valentines day.
