A/N

It's funny how my first ever (and now deleted cause I was a dumb child) story on here was also pirate-and-royal-themed. Full circle, in a way.

I'm kind of iffy on the show and where it's heading at this point to be honest, but I still love Jaya, and as long as people like my stories, I'll keep making them.

So, I do hope you enjoy this one. Thank you for sticking with me.

He felt heavier with every step he took towards the port. Part of it was due to the soldiers' hands on his shoulders weighing him down, but, in the end, it was mostly his own hesitation that prevented him from moving forward.

He looked at the small, wooden boat waiting for him; there was no way he could possibly survive the Endless Sea on that. He had better chances of washing up on another kingdom's shore rather than making it there safely.

Any other ruler would have offered him a ride on a bigger ship, even if it meant working all day long till he reached his destination. But no, his King was the most maniacal of them all.

Even if he was far in front of him, guarded by several of his servants, he could sense the smirk that was most likely painted across his lips.

By his side was his daughter, the princess who didn't even spare him a glance once he was caught. Such a simple mistake, and yet it cost him the life he had built.

He looked to his side; a much larger ship was stationed a bit farther away, securely hidden from view. It seemed empty, weirdly enough.

The King turned towards him, a wicked expression on his face as he bowed for him. "Enjoy your vacation, traitor."

He looked at the princess yet again; she didn't meet his eyes, her own a mix of anger and guilt.

No one was there to say goodbye; and the only one that was wouldn't even look at him.

Life was great.

He was about to step in when a mob echoed in the distance.

The King groaned in annoyance. "Them again? How many times have I said to keep that ship away from our waters?"

When he raised his snake-shaped scepter towards his guards, they cowered in fear.

His shoulders were let go as they went running after the crowd of people on the other side. Golden coins were falling out their bags while one of them had jewelry all around their neck; some of them held swords while one held a musket in his hands.

They all boarded their ship in a hurry, knocking the King's men into the depths below with an easy swing.

He looked down at the chains wrapped around his wrists. Taking a deep breath, he looked at the princess one last time, running off into the crowd.

And yet, the King didn't lift a finger.

"Father... Why let him go?" The princess' voice sounded more relieved than it should have.

For once, the King's face stiffened, his long, red cloak dragging across the ground as they walked away. "Where he's going, he'll be met with a fate worse than any one I could have offered him."

He kicked one of the King's guards, elbowed a sworded man, and squeezed through the chaos in order to reach the deck. He ran as quickly as he could to hide behind a wooden column, trying to free his hands but failing.
