A/N

Wow, 1K reads already? Am I good at marketing or do y'all like the story that much? ;)

Anyway, Jaya Week is ongoing right now, so please go and support everyone participating (including me!) by following jayaweekofficial and giving the Jaya Week stories all a read.

Jaya Week is also the reason why I didn't post last week. Even if my oneshots are relatively smaller than usual (and tbh I'm pretty disappointed with myself for not doing anything of higher quality...), they still took up my time.

One last thing, I really hope the characters don't come off as OOC (considering the circumstances of the story at least).

Anyway, enjoy!

He was about to pass out.

After living in a desert for so many years, he thought he would have gotten used to the sun burning him alive all day.

But that time, being left to mop for hours on end and no help... It, quite frankly, sucked.

His 'promotion' had lasted a day and a half in total. In the end, he was demoted to his original position as a carpenter, including mopping the deck whenever he didn't work. It wasn't reassuring that every pirate that passed by would intentionally litter the floor to make his life harder.

Some of his injuries had yet to heal. Luckily, Flintlocke was kind enough to provide him an eye patch, although it did make things unnecessarily harder. "Now you look like a real pirate," he told him.

He just wanted to be left alone, to rest in his bed, close his eyes, and stay asleep until that nightmare was over.

Every night, he hoped that she would visit him. Just from the guilty, sorry look in her eyes every time she passed, he could tell that it was best to keep his distance for now.

When they did arrive in Djinnjago, a sense of dread filled him. Something deep inside told him that the Captain would no longer keep his promise. No matter what happened in the end, he would never be freed from the ship.

His theory proved true when the Captain came up to him while he mopped. He didn't say a word, and yet, Jay knew to stay silent and obey.

The Misfortune's Keep had finally come to a stop in Djinnjago's harbour. Armed guards were waiting outside for the wooden bridge to settle on the docks, and, finally, for Nadakhan to come out.

Delara stepped out from the levels below, Flintlocke by her side. But before she could approach them, the Captain grabbed his arm, leaning down to whisper in his ear.

"You're my servant for the week. Say a word to anyone and you lose your head."

All he could do was nod.

When she finally arrived, she gave him a questioning glance. For once in his life, he didn't utter a word.

The guards readied their weapons once Nadakhan appeared front and centre in their view. He raised his hook, making them both tense even more.

"I come in peace," said the Captain. "I wish to see my father."

The guards gave each other a questioning look. Surprisingly, they looked to Jay for answers, but a single glare from his Captain only made him shrug.
