Vanessa Montgomery was not what one would call a typical Malibu. She didn't care about reputation, nor did she give a damn about money the way some of her peers did. She was a dreamer, a cheerleader and someone known to put others needs before her own. Now, when her parents passed away when Vanessa was six, she had been placed under the care of Henry Miller, who was known to be her actual legal godfather. Henry loved her as his own and brought her into his home with no hesitation at all. Sky, Henry's only child, and Vanessa tended to get along extremely well. The two of them were inseparable and no one could ever change that. Vanessa was always the one to defend her against Avery and her minions, but sometimes she couldn't help but agree with what Avery would say about their team because they truly did suck.

"Vanessa!" Skylar called as she glanced at me noticing that I continued to organize the clothes in my closet pretending to not have heard her. "Catalina and her mom are here!" I sighed and looked around attempting to ignore her only due to the reason that I wanted to clean my closet because I didn't particularly enjoy the way it appeared to be at the moment. I had a habit of piling my clothes after a while without actually rearranging them so it was starting to look like a mess but I guess Sky had other ideas for me when she continued to call me over to join her.

I stood up and wiped off the dust that began to accumulate on my jeans before following after Sky towards where Isabel and Henry were. We greeted them softly and searched around for Lina who was nowhere to be found at the moment.

They told us that Catalina had headed towards her room the moment they arrived to get settled in so that's where we went in hopes of finding her soon.

"Oh. No. Now that's bootleg. How are they gonna have a broken toilet right next to a new one?" Lina spoke out loud from the restroom just as Skylar and I walked towards her.

Laughing at her statement, Skylar smiled politely, "It's not a toilet, Lina. It's a bidet."

"A... what?" Catalina questioned with a baffled look featured on her facial features.

"A bidet." I repeated noticing her confused stare from where I stood leaning against the wall. Skylar stepped forward and turned on the bidet while I further explained its purpose, "You use it to wash down there."

Looking like if she was about to vomit, Lina flailed her arms around, "No, no, no. That's nasty..." She started to rub a hand over her face as she let out a groan before putting a hand over her hip, "How? I don't even drink out of a public fountain. You expect me to use that?"

"Oh... I told Dad you were funny." Skylar sat down on the toilet making sure the cover was on first so that she wouldn't slip before laughing at Lina's disgusted expression over the presence of the bidet.

Catalina looked at Sky sarcastically, glancing in my direction before sighing, "Thanks Sky, but your dad doesn't even know me. He doesn't even really know my mother either."

"Maybe, but I don't think it really matters. He said with Isabel, it was love at first sight." Sky rebutted with a dreamlike daze and fond smile making me roll my eyes. I loved Sky but she was such a sucker for love when it came to other people.

Lina laughed in a mocking matter before crossing her arms over her chest as she narrowed her eyes, "Yeah, I'm sure that you mean first he saw her culata. And then he saw her tetas."

"What?" Sky asked, confused turning to me for help but I shrugged at her as a response as well.

Lina looked around avoiding Sky's questioning glances, "Nothing."

"Anyway, we're sisters now! I have always wanted another sister!" Sky voiced with excitement turning to me, "I have always thought it'd be cool to be a sister of three and now we can! Isn't that great?"

Lina looked as if she were just given the worst insult that a person could be given and scoffed as she muttered, "Yeah well, it's gonna take more than a marriage license to be considered sisters."

"Oh yeah, I know that. Even the Brady Bunch had issues." Sky trailed off, feeling defeated at her effort of forming a bond between Lina and the two. She stepped back before muttering that she had just came around to let her know that dinner was finished.

I scoffed once she left, noticing that it was just Lina and I. "You know she's actually trying right? As much as I understand change being hard, you don't have to give her such a hard time for trying to get along with you."

Lina nodded with a sigh making me continue. "Are you coming to dinner?" She shook her head in reply and feigned exhaustion before seeming as if she were thinking about a response.

"You know what, I'm good. I'm actually kind of tired. It's been a long day." She said before turning around as she rummaged through a box near her.

I nodded and left her alone after her response and headed back up to my room to finish organizing my closet. Sky soon joined me with a plate of food when she noticed that I missed dinner. We talked for a few hours and even Isabel came in to greet us at some point and I realized that even if her daughter wasn't adjusting well so far, at least Isabel was enjoying the change in scenery for herself.

Isabel told us that Lina used to be captain of a cheer team in East L.A. and that was one of the main reasons as to her not wanting to leave which made sense, but she still had no reason to treat Henry and Sky as rude as she had.

It was just rude.
