Everything somehow became more bearable with Kim. The family situation kept having ups and downs but with Kim to support him Chay didn't mind facing any challenges. He understood why Porsche had become practically unstoppable when he met Kinn. He knew how support and love could empower someone.
But that did not come alone. He had tasted betrayal earlier. Even after he had sorted everything with Kim, he had unknowingly developed a cold demeanour. He couldn't trust people, he appeared cold and he no longer shied away from cursing people. His anger was on his sleeves all the time.
He would lash out and was reserved to a point where his university mates didn't bother including him in any activities. It didn't faze him. He could go on with life without them. He knew he didn't need friends in the first place. Macau was enough for hanging out he believed.
It had become the exact opposite for Kim. He became regular to university, would smile more and was very expressive these days. He learnt it the hard way, what being icy cold all the time could do. He made friends at university and his music became more popular than it already was.
"P'Wik has improved so much! I can feel the emotions in his voice now!" Fans would comment on his videos. And it was true. He put in all his emotions in his songs now. It definitely made them more special.Life had been going on well for Kim. He was still part of the mafia family, but Tankhun and Kinn made sure their younger brother could enjoy time away from any toxicity. Korn, his father was slightly displeased on his strongest and smartest child being swayed away from the path of family business but he didn't have much say in the matter. Kim had had enough of his arrogant untouchable self. He was just a human after all.
"Kim, or should I say Wik? The summer fest is coming up and the music club needs you to perform. I know we're asking on a short notice but I'm sure you can handle it. No you can not say no." Kim's university senior informed him.
"But I didn't even apply Phi. Are you sure it would be no problem?"
"I will manage everything so you don't have to worry. Just get your guitar, your handsome face and hop on stage. The girls would love it." His senior grinned widely.Getting Kim to perform was a publicity stunt. Kim knew this woukd happen but he was always prepared for live performances. He wouldn't decline this offer anytime. Maybe he could collaborate with Porchay and they could perform together on stage. He called the younger, delighted with his idea.
"P'Kim I'm sorry. I already applied for being in the arts club for the fest."
"What?! Why?"
"I was trying to avoid you back then and didn't think it'll be this way." Chay admitted.Kim was a little disheartened but he didn't complain further. He ended the call and continued his performance's discussion. He really hoped he couldn't collaborate with Chay one day. Both of them were brought together by music, and it was something they stayed honest about.
Nonetheless, he knew "Wik" would be best for the performance. Even though he got many friends he still was a popular singer. Girls followed him around at times and his fans often recognised him. He liked the fame, he liked the attention. When he was young he would compete with his brothers to get the family business all to himself. But when his mother introduced him to music, he couldn't help but fall in love.
Ever since then he became detached from the mafia business. It wouldn't be an understatement to say Kim could overthrow Kinn too. He was more powerful, almost too powerful than everyone. His father didn't bother forcing Kim into the business since Kinn took one for the team. He remembered the time when both him and Kinn would go to music lessons.
He would play the guitar and Kinn would sing, horribly. But it was fun. He bonded over music with his brother. That's what made him trust Kinn, and stick around. He was very protective of his brothers and hence decided to work in the shadows, helping them in whatever way he could. He knew if Kinn asked, he would give up his music career and help the family.Kim knew his father disliked him, not much, but he did. Since the strongest of his sons declined his offers to manage or be part of the game, it was justified. His trust issues thus extended to his father. He was searching Porsche's history because his father had appointed the guy out of the blue. That had been something suspicious and Kim spent most of his time uncovering the true relationship between Porsche and his father. That's when he found out about Chay's mother.
Kim still didn't trust his father. But He liked things this way. He liked being Wik. He liked Chay. He was grateful for everything that lead him to the guy. Chay had become his muse.
"P'Kim?" Chay shook his hands in front of Kim's face.
Kim had zoned out during lunch.
"Sorry, I was thinking something."
"Oh! So you didn't listen? I was saying I want you to drop me back home today instead of the main family's house. I miss my room and I need to finish some work, all my books are there." Chay said.
"Your room? You mean the shrine you've made for me?" Kim joked thinking how Chay's room was full of his pictures.
"I tore all your pictures long ago. Someone decided to break up with me so I had to."
"And then you dyed your hair blue." Kim laughed.
"It did help. You just won't get it." Chay pouted.
"Okay okay, I'll drop you off." Kim said, leaning in to kiss Chay's forehead.
"Cute." He said making Chay blush.
"You still blush every time I kiss you." He added, laughing again."You don't even know how soft your lips are." Chay gave him a light kiss his lips.
"I'll need another kiss for proof."
"No, thank you."
