The bullet hit Korn in the chest. But Chay didn't stop. He fired again. And again. His eyes were devoid of any emotion. There was a terrifying anger, a cold lethal feeling inside him.
Korn was bound to die after getting shot three times. The room fell silent once it was over, the background noises from the ongoing fight could still be heard.
Everyone in the room was staring at Chay. The small sweet boy just killed the mafia's head.
Kinn had turned around still in Porsche's arms. His father lay lifeless near him. Blood had pooled around his body. Kinn didn't know how to react. He hated his father for making him fight Porsche, he cared for his father for being there in case he needed help, he loved him for taking care of him no matter how harsh he could be. He was overcome with so many emotions. Tears flowed from his eyes. He felt Porsche's grip on him tighten.
"Chay! You killed him!" Pete broke the silence. He headed towards Chay holding him by his shoulders. He shook the younger boy trying get him out of the daze. No one could've imagined Chay could do something like this.
"Pa!" Kinn sobbed, now kneeling next to his father's body. A swarm of guards entered the room. The utter chaos and panic that took over the whole mafia family was insane.
Pete instructed the minor family's men to calm the situation down. The news of Korn's death spread throughout and the fight soon subsided.
Korn's body was kept on his bed while Kinn and Tankhun mourned in the room. Everyone else had decided to leave the men alone. It had been a long day.
Porchay immediately searched for Kim, after exiting the room. He dropped his pistol somewhere, not bothered about weapons anymore. He found Kim laying unconscious, slumped against the pillar. Luckily no one had harmed him while was unaware. Porchay wrapped his arms around Kim who gradually opened his eyes.
"P'Kim I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Chay whispered.
"Chay." Kim found it difficult to speak. He was just so tired. His eyes felt heavy. Soon he had fallen asleep.
Chay escorted Kim to the infirmary with the help of Pol. Then he stayed there with Kim, falling asleep while doing so.
Meanwhile, Vegas had started preparing for the meeting they had to have now that the main head was no more.
After two hours Pol woke Chay and Kim up. Kim felt better after getting some rest but he didn't bother bringing up the whole battle that went on and how Chay had attacked him too.
They headed towards to dining hall in silence, which was the only place that felt unharmed.
"We are here to discuss whatever happened today." Kinn announced. He clearly had gained his composure. "Let's start with listening to Porsche's side of the story."
"
Yes, I'll begin. On Wednesday night I went to wish my mother good night. When I went to her room she looked troubled by something. I asked her what bothered her. She then revealed to me a secret which made me see the mafia family in a new light." Porsche stopped. He looked at Kinn for a second but then continued.
"She told me that Korn, who pretended to be her brother, was not the real successor of this mafia business." Shocked expressions were seen in the room.
"Yes, my mother was the real owner of the business. She even told me how her death certificate and will were fake. They were made up by Korn to acquire the business. And he threw me and Porchay out of the picture. But soon he realised my mom was kept alive by Gun, because he planed to keep my mom to himself, so that he could get all the property she had. Korn brought her back. Made her lose her memory."
"Why did he not kill her then?" Kim intervened.
"You should've known that before anyone, Kim. Do you think Korn had my mother with him all the time? No! He was too late. He recruited me and that was his biggest mistake. He made me come here so that he could kill me easily. Being a bodyguard is risky business, it was the easiest way he could dispose me off. That's why he brought me here, to keep me in check too. He found my mother with the monk you were investigating yourself, Kim. That monk was being paid by my mother to keep her hidden. But when Korn gave him money, he sold my mom. That's how Korn captured her. But he was too late. He knew I was with Kinn. When he realised his own son wouldn't let me die, he kept my mother as bait. He would collect information from her to make me intrigued about my family. Then he could easily make someone kill me and blame it on my 'interfering research' on my family and their history."
"And how do you know all this?"
"My mother told me half of it. The other half was confirmed by Korn himself. He knew his end was inevitable." Porsche finished his story.
"Now the real question is, who gets the money, the business and the power?" Vegas asked.
Kim cleared his throat.
"Technically, Chay killed Pa. So he should get the post."
"What!?" Chay seemed to be the most surprised out of everyone present there.
"This sweet kid! I'm sure Macau corrupted him." Tankhun dramatically added.
"Can you just stop?" Vegas intervened earning a scowl from Tankhun.
"The point is," Kim spoke up, "Pa is gone. Porchay is the new leader."
"Chay, how will you even run the business?" Porsche was visibly concerned.
"Phi, I didn't know it would come down to this. I just-"
"Killed a man?" Kinn questioned.
The room fell silent. Korn killed Chay's mother and Chay killed Korn for revenge. That sounded simpler but with so many feelings involved, Kinn and Porsche, Kim and Chay, everyone was conflicted.
"I support Chay being the leader." Vegas proposed. "He earned this spot no matter how or why. It is just how things are."
Chay had been panicking over taking up a whole new responsibility. But he had formed a plan. He just had to take a leap of faith.
"I am taking up the position." He announced.
