I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)
~ Four Tops

"Sugar pie, honey bunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else

In and out my life
You come and you go
Leaving just your picture behind
And I've kissed it a thousand times

When you snap your finger or wink your eye
I come a-running to you
I'm tied to your apron strings
And there's nothing that I can do, ooh"

CHAPTER 6: IMAGINE BATMAN, THEN AIM LOWER

"I stared at this building every day for two months, an hour at a time, waiting for a sign." Nadine commented as they walked into the building labeled Morty's Television and Radio. "A sign that any of you guys were alive. After the fourth month, I gave up hope. Around the fifth is when I let myself grieve." She played with her fingers, her arm still looped around his.

"I'm sorry." He spoke softly. She shook her head and stopped him outside the door before they walked in. "None of this is your fault." She let one of her hands rest on his cheek and smiled at him. "You saved us. You saved me."

Five stared at her for a second before nodding with a small smile. He walked over and opened the door, putting out his arm with a grin. That grin. "After you." He smirked at her.

When they got in, she followed him up the stairs to the second story. Five walked up to a man who had his back turned to them and tapped on it quickly. He jumped and spun around with wide eyes. "Jeez! You're quiet." The man glanced over at Nadine and lifted his eyebrows in shock. "Wow! Um, hi. My name's Elliott. Nice to finally meet you."

She tilted an eyebrow and glanced at Five briefly before taking his hand and shaking it. "Nadine." She told him, giving him a tight lipped smile. He nodded and got a little closer to her with curious eyes. Five grabbed onto her shoulder and pulled her backwards so that she stood next to him. "Elliott, did you develop these photos yourself?" Five asked as he stared at some photos hanging off a board.

Nadine rubbed her arms slightly, missing her brown jacket. She thought about the Moore house, wondering what would happen now that Five was back. Would she completely move out? Would she stop working at the diner? Would she never see Eli again? Or Paula? Or Margie? Also, would she ever figure out why those random people would come in at night? She wasn't going to tell Five about that stuff right now, he was already dealing with a lot.

"Of course. Can't exactly drop that stuff off at the neighborhood Fotomat. Government has eyes everywhere." Elliott responded. Nadine stared at the pictures, noticing one of her. Her eyes widened at her appearance. That felt like years ago. "I didn't see a darkroom." Five added. "Yeah, I converted the hallway closet." The man took a bite of his food while he talked making Nadine scrunch up her nose. "Swallow before you speak." The girl told him, tilting her head slightly. That had always been one of her pet peeves.
