There's a question ages old"CHAPTER 24: WAY TOO TIRED
Nadine walked barefoot through a dark green forest. Her feet past sticks and wet grass. She turned her head, looking for something her mind was telling her she needed to find. There was a door. She carefully walked over the patches of soft moss towards it.The charcoal grey dress that covered her body had intricate lace details and fell to her knees, brushing against her skin sometimes. She carefully reached out to the doorknob and twisted it, pulling it open all the way. Stairs. Nadine took ahold of the railing and stepped down into the long staircase.
"Please, no!" The echo of a familiar voice circled around her. A cry for help. Wren?
Nadine didn't take her time with the rest of the steps, running down them quickly and into a foyer.
"I'm sorry." Ben.
She raced towards the figures at the end of the room. Glitters of blue floated into the air and she watched as it circled up and disappeared. Wren stood alone, cupping at the air. Vanya stood off to the side with a downcast face.
"Wren, what happened?" Nadine's voice stood out in the quiet room, the two other women whipping around to see her.
"Oh, Nadine." Wren lunged at the living girl, stretching around her for a tight hug as she continued to cry.
"Hey, what's wrong?" The teens eyes flickered between Vanya and Wren, neither of them knowing what to say.
The woman cleared her throat and nodded, wiping tears off her face. "It was Ben. He's gone." Nadine pulled Wren in tighter as she let out a loud sob, petting her hair and rubbing her back. "Oh, Wren."
The young witch lifted an arm off her spirit and towards the woman, gesturing for her to come over to them as well. Vanya sprinted over and hugged them tightly. Nadine blinked and they were gone. She was back in the forest and more confused than ever.
