"When I look out my window
Many sights to see
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be

They're strange, so strange
It's very strange to me

You've got to pick up every stitch (gonna be)
You've got to pick up every stitch (gonna be, gonna be)
You've got to pick up every stitch
Oh no, must be the season of the witch"

CHAPTER 27: SHIT.

"She never cared about your parents. She was looking for you."

"Why?"

Diego took a step forward. "Cause you're one of us," he stated, taking a breath before continuing," the Handler stole you, Lila. Just like our asshole father took all of us." The woman shook her head, putting her hands up as the Hargreeves siblings and the girl fanned out into the barn.

Five and Nadine made eye contact, sharing a brief nod before listening to them again. "No, it's not the same thing." Lila shook her head.

Diego nodded. "You're right. Because he didn't have our parents murdered. Listen to me, Lila. You were born October 1st, 1989, the same day as all of us." Diego got too close and Lila glared at him, shaking. "Stay back!"

"Hey! Hey, stop! Wait. Wait. Hey!" Diego stammered out. "Lila? Lila, stop."

Lila's voice took on a sad tone, shaking her head at the man. "I trusted you. I got you a job. I even introduced you to my mother, and then you took off on me," she yelled.

Nadine and the others formed a circle around them now, ready to strike if anything goes wrong. "Because I needed to save the world!" Diego pressed. "She's using you, Lila. The Handler."

The woman shook her head, not willing to believe them. "You're wrong. She raised me. She loves me."

"Yeah, you know what? Love shouldn't have to hurt this much," Luther commented, eliciting a fake gag from Lila. She whipped around at the sound of Nadine chuckling, giving the girl a smirk. "All right, I tried." Luther shrugged. Five took the chance to get into a better position and put his fists up.

"He's right. We have to kill her."

"Hey! Five! Five, stop. I got it." Diego put his hand out to gesture for Five to stop moving forward at the same time that Nadine grabbed onto his sleeve, tugging him back. He gave her a questioning look and the girl mouthed "relax" to him, gesturing to inhale and exhale. The boy rolled his eyes.
