#3: You want to invest your time with him

There really wasn't much left to it, was there? Knowing I was light enough and that Jack was strong enough, I took a single jump and held myself on to his neck and hips.

'I love that!' Jack said after he kissed me. 'But why don't I undress you first, we both get well lubricated and you try doing it again?'

Beds are comfortable and lying with your man is awesome, but I had no idea that sex standing up in the middle of a dark living room, with your fiancé holding all of you while he controls his speed and your movements ... that ... that is perfect!

When we finished, we crashed on the couch together, naked, playing with each other's fingers.

'Wish I could have your confidence,' I said. 'Even if you asked, I don't think I'd have the guts to do something so exposing like that.'

'Well, I wouldn't say it now, because you'd get all self-conscious and everything,' Jack sighed, 'but that's the thing, isn't it? I don't have the confidence, either. I did something you asked, that's all. And we know we both suck at saying "no" to each other.'

'Not true,' I said, taking his hand up to my mouth and sucking on his thumb. 'I had no problem refusing to take the blame for that time you drove you dad's car around town when you were fifteen.'

Jack laughed. 'That's true. I got grounded with a full year of errand, mound, and grocer duties together.'

'My father bailed you out with the part-time job at the shop, though.'

'I really love your dad. He always makes the best things.'

'Jack, my father can barely assemble a breakfast tray. Tell me one thing that man made by himself, even more so one that he made well.'

'He made the finest Munchkin to ever cross this land.'

'Yeah, that's on me. I walked into that one.'

Jack laughed. His voice was still light when he spoke.

'But seriously, though. You honestly never figured out why I did it?'

'That lame cheesy joke? It's a given with you, Jack.'

'Not that, dumdum. Why I took my dad's car for a ride.'

'I don't know, Jack, same dumb reason you dropped a can of paint on your dad's music hall carpet back when you were sixteen?'

'Exactly that. Don't you remember what happened right after those times?'

'You got grounded.'

'And?'

'And, actually, both times my dad bailed you out.'

'Because?'

Then the memories truly kicked in.

'Because both times your family travelled shortly after and they didn't want to leave you alone, but they said you were old enough to have lost your leisure rights.'

I stayed silent for one more second before going beet red in the face.

'Jack, please ... Sunbeam, tell me you didn't do those things just to stay behind with me?'

He answered me with a kiss. A long, wet, and filled-with-love kiss.

'I've always done everything I could if it meant spending more time with you, Munchkin. Walking out on family trips has always been a no-no, you know that. Both of those times, you wouldn't be able to go.'
