7. Family dinner

Sam's Pov.

Walking into the kitchen with Asher I see my parents contemplating over a stack of money.

"What's all this?" Asher questions quite interested in what is going on.

"Oh!! You're back! Well that was fast!! Wait, why didn't you mark each other?!!"
my Dad asks back trying to avoid whatever they doing.

"Ash!! What is the meaning of this!! Why didn't you mark my daughter!?" Mom adds to it.

"Mom, Dad enough! I'll explain but now let's just eat." I usher them to the dinner table and we sit down.

We start dinner and the mood got better after we told them the whole changing and being in pain stuff, so they were now  relieved. Asher and Dad were exchanging stories about what happened since they parted and sometimes Mom corrected Dad so that he wouldn't exaggerates what actually happened.

Than Asher asked about my sister and I told her about how Natalie is like a nomad hippie and is going around the world ever since she finished highschool, only coming home once in a while. And even though we don't see her much we almost talk every week, although she did go quiet for a while as she's in some Amazon rain forest. I pull out my phone and show Asher some of the pictures she sent a couple of weeks ago.

We talked about Asher and her pack as well. They live not to far from here and she told me that usually it's her beta who's in charge but he also ran away looking for his mate and that she needs to beat that brat when she next sees him. Oh, and that his is also a Lycan. That was a big surprise for us as we didn't know much about Lycans.

"Humm.. well there are quite a few Lycans nowadays as medical knowledge expanded a lot since I was born, and their survival rate improved significantly, but if I have to give a number I would say it's still less than a hundred, maybe not even eighty. Most of them are in my pack as I'm the first Lycan and because my father is a born vampire I'm also the strongest among them, but it's not as rare as it was a century ago." she explained.

We talked and ate and finally the dinner came to an end. We were still sitting at the table listening to one of my Dad's awful joke, when Asher spoke.

"I would like for all of you to meet my father." She said and my parents and I went completely silent. "I know it's sudden to ask as he is a vampire and all the rules, but he is still my father and as you'll be all around for quite some time you would eventually have to meet him."

"Wait! It's indeed sudden but that doesn't imply we don't want to meet him vampire and such, so don't worry!! But! What in the world does that mean that we all be around!? I get that I would, being your mate and you marking me but my parents... well they will die, eventually." I start blabbering.

"Yeah Ash what are you going on about?" Mom asks.

"Well because I'm a special Lycan I can bite other wolves and make them 'immortal' after they found their mate, well not literally but still make them live for a lot longer, so basically I can change you Sarah and you John, as well as Natalie." she drops the news on us and I'm shocked!

I thought I will have to live forever without my parents and my sister ever since Asher told me I would be immortal but this is huge!! My biggest fear disappeared in a second and I'm just filled with happiness! I jump up and hug and kiss her. Asher also kisses me back and pulls me on her lap after our lips part.

"Soo.. are you saying we could live a couple hundred years more?" finally my Dad asks and me and my Mom stare intensely at Asher waiting for her answer.

"Haha! More like a couple thousand years. I know it not immortality but if you want it you'll be with us for at least that much." Asher says and we are speechless.

"Wow! I... Just wow!" Mom tries to comment but can't and we all just laughed out loud.

After the overwhelming atmosphere settled down we went to the living room and started talking again while Dad cleaned up the dishes.

"Ash tell me will it be like it is with Sam or is there a difference?" Mom begins after she makes sure we are sitting comfortably, which is at this point became a habit of Asher sitting on the couch with me in her lap.

"Humm.. I guess so. But obviously there's a difference, it's just you will not become fully fledged Lycans more like just change into really long living wolves. Sure you'll become stronger and have an urge to drink blood but your wolf will not go through changes like Amber will, or not on the same level and intensity."

"And when will you bite them?" I ask excited.

"After I marked you, but we will have to wait for Natalie to find her mate or I can't change her." she finishes.

"Why is that?" Dad joining us asked.

"Well John it is important, just as you don't let anyone bite you until you find your mate, because then the bitten wolf will carry the biters scent and maybe even prevent them finding their mate. And I really don't wanna risk it." She sighs helpless but we all just nod agreeing with the reason.

There is no worse fate than losing your mate and that is why it is a taboo to bite/mark someone if they are not meant to be yours. It's also one of the reasons why rouges exist and why I had to go abroad for so long, but that's for later.

"So now that we all discussed everything important, care to tell me why you guys were so panicked when we saw you above a bunch of money. What were you even doing whit it?" I question them whit my alfa tone because I know it will work.

"Sweetheart don't be angry with Dad it's just that I made a bet whit your mother."

"Haha!!" Asher laughed but i still don't get it.

"Well sweetie you see when you told us you were bisexual I definitely though it will be a guy as Amber does have an attitude, but your dad always said it will be a girl so we made a bet. But now we can't really decide who won because Asher is female but Blaze is male so we were in a dilemma." Mom finishes explaining and I don't know what to say, I should have anticipated this! I do know how they are but still!

"This is a low blow from you guys!! I'm your daughter!" I pout. "And you deserve it!" I conclude with Asher still laughing below me.

"I know who is the winner!" She joins the conversation and they look at her with anticipation. "It's me!!! HAHA!!" she hugs me closer to her laughing into my back, making me smile.
