18. Aftermath

Asher's Pov.

Still dazed from my anger I was standing still, looking in the direction Jeremy went. The muscles in my body tense and ready to burst with full strength any moment. My breathing heavy and if you looked closely you could see my body heat dissipating in the air due to me coming so close to shifting.

At one point I felt a cold hand slithering around my waist and slowly turning me.
Sam was hugging me with concern, as she put her head on my chest.

In my stupor I saw her giving instructions for the others to go, but the voices were filtered out and I could only see her. My instinct to protect her made me lose it so bad, and now that she was in my arms her scent was like a drug I couldn't refuse.

In the next second I picked her up and started to kiss her. I wasn't careful and slow, no! I was controlled by my instinct and I had to take her! I had to make her mine right here and now!!

Pushing her back to the side of the building I put pressure on her so she couldn't move away, and started to lick and kiss every part of her exposed skin.

"Ashe..!! Ah! Mmm.." she was already moaning loudly, not having any strength to push me away.

Smelling her wetness I was in ecstasy and my fangs came out, ready for making the mark!

"Asher stop! You're going to hurt her!" I heard a shout from behind.

"If you mark her she will be in pain!" Said another voice and my sanity started to return.

I looked back and saw Jason and Taylor not far away but not too close. Their faces filled with shock by my changed eyes and my fangs.

"Shit!" I cursed and held Sam in my arms. She was also in a daze not completely herself because of the intense pheromones I released. Walking to Jason I put her in his arms. "Watch her! I need to hunt!" was all I said than took off.

In the forest I was running with full speed and as the cold air touched my skin I felt myself coming to. Knowing that if I shift, Blaze will most likely will go after Jeremy I refused his request and started to pick up the different scents between the trees.

Smelling the young buck I followed it's scent and the next second I was already drinking it's blood. As the red fluid ran down my throat my eyes turned back to normal and my heart beat became regular.

Looking up the sky I sighed! "Goddess that was close!"

"I still think we should go after that fucker!"  Blaze commented feeling discontent.

"No, we should head back, the match is starting soon and I run too far away to have the time, chasing after the mutt."

"Alright, but Asher, what just happened?!" he asked

Running back towards the school I also contemplated. WTF was this?! It never happened to me before, losing control to this extent! "Humm.. my guess? This was my instinct as Sam's mate to protect her! Because I didn't mark her even though we already met it came out stronger I suppose!"  I figured. "Anyway let's hurry back! I have to see her!" I concluded and started running full speed!

| Back At The School |

Slowing down at the edge of the forest I saw everyone chatting in groups in front of the gym. Looking around i noticed Jason, Taylor and the other three around Sam. They were telling her what happened after I, as they put it, 'went wild'.

Checking myself out I remember that I only had my jeans on so I shook my head! It was still better then being nude. Walking towards them it was Sam who saw me first and she immediately ran to me!

"Asher! Are you okay?" she asked and this made me smile.

"Don't worry, love! Everything is good now... I just lost it a bit. Sorry! And you? Are you alright?" I looked her in the eyes and held her head with care.

"That's good! I'm fine as well... my back is a bit bruised but nothing major." she told me but I was struck with guilt! Sam probably could tell what was going on in my head so she embraced me and whispered. "Don't do that! I know you feel responsible but it was instinctive! Don't blame yourself!" she tiptoed and gave me a peck on my lips, but instantly regretted it.
"Goddess you taste like blood!" she exclaimed.

"Haha... yeah I just ate... sorry!" I laughed and she puncher my bare chest.

"Pig!"

"No! Actually it was deer!"

"Idiot!" she said and punched me again!

"Alright! I'm still an idiot and all, but let's go back now! I still need to change and a game to win!" I kissed her cheek knowing she didn't want the taste and held her hand. "Let's go!"

| A Couple Hours Later |

It was the last three minutes of the game and we were already ahead by 7 points. The deafening sounds of the crowd and music filled the court as we tried to manoeuvre between the enemy team. Knowing we had the game we were just stalling for the time to run out, but I must say it was an epic match!
We had a few close calls and Black Lake High really made us sweat for this victory.

The sound of the whistle signaled our triumph and the whole school cheered. The team surrounded me and lifting me up like a champion celebrated.

"Asher! Asher!"
"Asher!"
"Asher! Asher! Asher!"

They shouted my name because it was mainly due to my contribution that we won.

Filled with the positive mood I raised my hand to the sky and shouted!
"Everyone come to Maddie's! Let's have a party tonight!" I invited them to the local pizzeria.

"Yeah!!!"
"Cool!"
"Hurray!"
"Long live the champion!"
