Alex pov

It was getting close to closing time at my Rune shop, known as Runehenge. My store contains many materials for my runic spells, and runes have many purposes even though some witches and wizards don't believe so. Right now, I was finishing up on a prom dress a client of mine brought in. For runes to work on the clothes, I have to sew them in with some enchanted thread and sew them on the inside so I wouldn't ruin their original design.

Alex: * finishing the sewing * And done that should do it for the anti-stain runes, waterproof runes, and some of the durability runes.

My doorbell rang, and I looked to see a woman with brown hair tied in a bun wearing a business suit who came in a rush. It was none other than one of my clients.

Business woman: Sorry work was running longer than normal for me! Did you finish my order?!

Alex: Not to worry, you came just in time. I just finished stitching in the last rune.

Business woman: Oh, thank you. My daughter will be so happy. How much do I owe you? * taking her purse off her shoulder, readying to take out the money *

Alex: That would be fifty dollars, twenty for the thread and thirty for the stitching.

Business woman: Sounds a little much, doesn't it?

Alex: Well, the thread I used is enchanted, and the sewing takes time, and if you would like, I'll give you a demonstration.

Business woman: Demonstration? * looking nervous *

Alex: Yep. * went under the counter and grabbed a bottle of grape juice *

Business woman: Is that...?!

Alex: That's right, it's grape juice. * took off the lid*

Business woman: Stop what you are doing?!

Alex: Just watch.

I walked up to the dress and poured the grape juice over it. The woman was extremely upset with me until she saw that the dress was alright. It wasn't wet, nor did it have any stains.

Alex: See, I just wanted to show you that your money is not being wasted.

The woman was pleased and paid in full. When she finally left, I went into the back of the store and changed back into my normal clothes. I placed my robes in my backpack and strapped my stave on the side, and headed home.

Alex: * locked the door behind me and looked at the sky, getting cloudy* It looks like it's about to rain. I better hurry back home.

I went down the street to reach the bus stop and as I finally reached to my destination and there sitting on the bench the was a beautiful woman with long ginger hair, scarlet eyes, flawless skin and wear a black and white sweater dress with a black bow in her hair as I looked closer I see she had a suitcase with her with a sad expression on her face looking close to crying so I went up to her to see what the problem was.

Alex: * reached the bus stop* Hey, you alright?

???: * the woman wiped her eyes * Yes, I'm alright.

Alex: Listen, I've seen plenty of movies to know when a woman is at a bus stop, alone with a suitcase it's says something serious happened to you.

???: Why should I tell you? * looks to me*

Alex: Well * I sat down next to her*. It's healthier to talk about it than keeping it all in.

???: * she sighs reluctantly * Ok, I was on my way home from work. I closed up my shop early to surprise my boyfriend Ivan.

Alex: You own a store?

???Yeah, it's called The Wishing well anyway. When I finally got home to our apartment, I wanted to tell Ivan that I planned out a romantic outing, but as I went inside our bedroom, I caught him in bed with another woman.

Alex: And I'm guessing when you saw them together, Ivan tried to explain.

???: He used every excuse in the book, and I was livid. He tried to stop me, but I couldn't stay there after that, so I grabbed as much I could carry and left, and now I'm...here.

Alex: Do you have anywhere to stay?

???: I was thinking of living at my store, but Ivan will probably go there first to look for me. * sighs again *

Alex: How about you stay at my place?

???: What? Why? You don't even know me. * surprised at the offer *

Alex: True, however, it has to be better than your other options.

???: Well, if you're really offering, maybe I'll check it out, but if I don't like the looks of it, I'll go to a motel. Is that a deal?

Alex: Deal, my name is Alex Greenleaf, and you are? * offering her a hand *

Lucinda: I'm Lucinda. * she smiled as she took my hand*

Lucinda pov

As I took Alex's hand, I looked into his eyes and saw he was being genuinely honest with me. Sure, it sounds crazy to trust someone you first met, but he actually sat down and listened to my problem, so I should at least give him a chance.

Lucinda: So where is your place?

Alex: Lucky for you we need to take a bus there. * smiles as the bus came up* Now then let's go.

We got on and rode it for about an hour until we finally stopped surprisingly at the edge of the woods.

Lucinda: Wait, you live in the woods?

Alex: Yeah, I don't like big cities if it was a small town. I have no problems but cities are too noisy for me.

Lucinda: You want somewhere quiet. I totally get it.

Alex: My cottage is down this path. * pointing to a dirt path through the woods* Let me give us some light.

He took the staff off his backpack and slammed the bottom of the stave on the ground, and glowing symbols appeared one by one by one leading us through the woods.

Alex: There now let's get going. * started walking forward *

Lucinda: * walking beside him* So you're a wizard?

Alex: No, I'm a Rune mage. I specialize in using ancient symbols that require certain conditions.

Lucinda: Wow, I rarely ever hear anything about them.

Alex: It's an old art that many believe isn't worth pursuing. So the only people I know who can use it are my family.

Lucinda: I see. I may look into it later. * muttered to myself *

As we walked through the woods, we finally reached his house, seeing the porch lights were on. I can tell it was a decent sized cottage built using a lot of oak wood and I noticed that his house had runes on it, not just the walls but the windows and a large one roof as well.

Lucinda: What's with all the runes on your house?

Alex: Some of it for protection, but the ones on the roof are for solar power.

Lucinda: Wait, really?

Alex: Yep, the only bill'sl I have to pay for are only water and food bills as well as wifi, so everything is all good.

Lucinda: Wow, I'm impressed to think you use such an old way of magic and incorporate it into modern ways.

Alex: Glad you liked it. * standing at the door facing me* Are you ready to go in?

Lucinda: Yeah, after the day I had, I needed a rest.

So we both entered the house.
