Markus woke up to the sun gleaming brightly through the windows of his base. He got up and stretched, grabbing his AK-47, Markus went down the stairs into the living room with the rest of his group. [AK-47] 12
"Hello, Markus," Lennox greeted as Markus went into the main room where his group waited.
"We've been waiting for you to come down here for a while now." Allen said.
Markus rolled his eyes and went out the door, the rest of his group following him. No fence was set up, mainly due to the fact that they wouldn't have been staying at the stone house anyway. [What's up with the stone buildings? They're here, they're there, they're everywhere! It's your friend, stone structure!] 13 As Markus led his group along the abandoned road which used to be flowing with cars, was now silent and still as the night. The Apocalypse had done a lot to the world around him. This was especially true for his old friend he used to have back when he was 1st Grade. Although, that was then, she's ruthless now. He still missed Vixen, who died back in Tennessee in the winter during the most freezing of temperatures due to the Fallout across the world.
He breathed in the fresh air of the forest. As memories flowed into his head of the travel to the place he currently survived in. The times he had with his new friends and how he ended up unifying them together, walking along this very road, where they decided he would be the best leader for all of them. Markus in the beginning wasn't in agreement with them, especially since he was never a good leader, but now here he was, leading them all to their probable deaths. That's what worried Markus the most. He could lead his entire Group to their deaths...
Markus shook his head, that's not what mattered. Leaves blew in the wind, making a rustling noise. Birds fluttered around, chirping in the trees towering above them. While Markus was looking up, a white flash shone across the sky, blinding Markus temporarily and illuminating the ground around them.
"What was that?" Lennox asked, curious.
"I say we check it out," Lancelot announced. [Check it out where? It was a flash of light that stretched across the sky.] 14
Allen muttered agreement, Markus shrugged, "I'm fine with that." [Stop indulging in their idiocracy.] 15
Markus started off toward the plains not that far away from the forest they where spending the night in. As Markus entered the forest, a Lurker bursts out of a nearby bush. Markus immediately pulls out his knife and stabs it in the head before it can bite him. The Lurker falls to the ground, staring lifelessly into the air. Markus kicked it to make sure it was dead, even though he was sure it was.
"Let's move, if one's here, who knows how many there are nearby." Markus whispered. The rest of his group nodded, trailing along behind him, their weapons pulled out ready to defend. [They're actually kinda smart. Wow.]
~*~
After the slightly long trek through the forest, a wide expanse opened out in front of him. Smoke billowed from behind the first hill in front of them. Markus pulled out his AK-47 from his back and began approaching the smoke coming from behind a cliff. As they reached the top of the cliff and peered over, shock took over Markus.
"What...is that?" Markus fired two shots into it. All it did was turn and face them. [What is the point of shooting it?] 16
"It's...a wolf on fire?" Lennox also fired two shots into it. Nothing happened to it. [The person next to you shot it twice. How is it a good idea to shoot it twice more?] 17
"What do we do?" Lancelot inquired, looking at Markus.
"We don't bother it anymore then we already have." Markus said, backing away from the wolf-on-fire.
Markus whirled around to head back into the forest, only to be faced with a horde of Lurkers stumbling toward them, slowly. Markus aimed his AK and signaled for the rest of his group to do the same. Putting his finger on the trigger, aiming at the head of the closest lurker, taking in a deep breath before their own massacre began, he pulled the trigger, sending off the signal to the rest of his Group to also begin their barrage on the Lurkers. The Lurkers where swiftly cut down, their bodies dropping right to the grassy ground of the plains. A clicking sounded in Markus's ear. [This could've been prevented...by not shooting the flame wolf!] 18
Three.
Swiftly, he let the clip hit the ground. Grabbing another clip with his open hand, he rammed into the ammunition carrier and continued his firing barrage, watching the Lurkers dropping as they got closer and closer. He stepped back, either it was death by Lurker or death by random wolf-on-fire that appeared out of nowhere and acted like an absolute god for some reason. [This writing reeks of 7th-grade writing.] 19 Although it definitely couldn't be explained, Markus would love to get killed by it rather than killed by these monsters. Besides, he would be doing the world a favor by not adding another Lurker to the world when his body was burnt to ash.
His gun clicked again.
Two.
Markus unloaded the clip, letting it also drop to the ground beside the other clipped which no longer contained ammunition in it. [Unnecessary information.] 20 Markus grabbed another clip and rammed it into the ammunition holder and began firing again. The one good thing, if he's going to die today, then he'll go down fighting, not being a coward. It'll be an honorable death, and if anything, he would ensure that he would be the first to die, or even slow down the Lurkers and let the rest of his group run from the horde. [At least it would be honorable.] 21
His gun clicked for the third time.
One.
Markus swiftly did the same repeated action to load another clip into the weapon. Markus aimed it at the head of another Lurker, as Lurkers began closing in from all sides except behind him. Markus remembered his old friend from Tennessee, at least he would be able to not have to miss his friend ever again. [We're in the middle of a fight. Oh yeah, I had a friend in Tennessee once.] 22 He would be with him, if such thing as the afterlife actually existed, which Markus disbelieved.
His gun clicked.
Zero.
Markus dropped the clip and reached for another one, he felt nothing there. He had used all of his clips and now his AK was useless. [You were counting the mags and you still reached for another.] 23 Markus put his AK on his back and pulled out his pistol. Just as Markus aimed, a whirling tunnel of black with white dots scattered about, just like the night. Two people fell through it, one landed on his knee while the other fell face first. The person who landed on his knee had a necklace of some sort around his neck. He stood up and beginning stabbing Lurkers with a sword or using his "magic" and impaling them with ice coming out of the ground. ["Beginning" stabbing. And how does Markus know it's magic?] 25
"Who are you?" Markus inquired, his pistol aimed at the head of the person who was fighting. Markus wouldn't pull the trigger, but he had to see intimidating.
"How about I tell you when this is done." came the response. The other person had already cut off the heads of Lurkers on one side, at this moment, the rest of his group had stopped firing and where now standing by, watching.
The last head fell off the group of Lurkers, with the bodies collapsing soon after their decapitation of the Lurkers. They both approached them. The person who didn't have the high-end stuff seemed nervous and wary of them. While the other person, glancing over at the nervous person suspiciously, answered Markus's question.
"My name is Ryker."
