Hello there, my dear readers! I'm just making this small addition since I forgot to mention it in the Bio. I will be combining elements from both the sub and the dub, but names will mostly be from the sub version, but there will be dub names to. Some of them just fit them better in my opinion. Anyways, that's all I wanted to bring up. Onto the first chapter!

[3rd POV]

???: "Life. A tale of one's time upon this mortal world. What was, what is, and what may yet be. But here upon this strange world, Life can be quite repetitive. Wake, eat, work, sleep, and repeat. There are those who won't conform to such a life choosing the thrill of adventure. Not knowing what the next day will hold. But there are those who choose not to submit themselves to either. Instead, they remain still in the thralls of life, stuck in a single spot. Unable to feel the warmth it gives. That has been the life of one (Y/N) Blackwood."

Upon the planet Earth that we all know lies a common old town situated on the continent of North America. This town wasn't anything special really. It wasn't like New York City or Las Vegas. This was a rather large rural town that was situated near a highway that cut through the state. In this quiet little town was a small apartment complex. There was nothing really special about it, unless you consider its pretty cheap living costs. One of the residents there was a young woman by the name of (Y/N) Blackwood. She was sleeping soundly in her bed, that is, until her alarm clock started to go off.

(Y/N) got up with a groan seeing the time on the electronic device. She hit the off button, got out of bed, and began her routine. (Y/N)'s been living here in the apartment complex for the last few years. Her family disowned her after she refused to marry a snobby boy four years older than her. That and all the abuse her father would put her through. Locking her up, refusing to feed her, and physically abusing her whenever she wouldn't do what they wanted. He would lash her with thin sticks, belts, or beat her up with his fists for her defiance.

----- Flashback -----

Father: "You are a Blackwood! You are to do as you are told!"

(Y/N): "But..."

Father: "BUT NOTHING! All you are good for is to marry that young man so we can get that dowery when you are old enough. This marriage has been arranged since the day you were born, and I'm not going to let you interfere in family business!"

He didn't care to listen. He kicked her in the ribs knocking the air out of her lungs and leaving her helpless on the floor. The sound of leather tightening filled air as he wrapped his belt around his hand. The lashes were slow and brutal meant to inflict the most pain possible. Once he was satisfied whipping her, he'd wrap the belt and punch her a few times. In about two minutes, he was done and left her on the floor of the basement. Blood trickled down her face and her skin began to bruise from where she was hit. No one would help her. Not even her mother would help her deciding to focus her love and attention to (Y/N)'s older brother. The popular high school star athlete.

She hated them. She hated them with a passion. What they neglected to do was remove all the books down in the basement. She was allowed to go to school, but all she could do was just learn there. (Y/N) was forbidden from making friends to ensure that the arrange marriage would go through without problems. One of those reasons was because she was different from other children. (Y/N) displayed little to no emotion and that didn't go well with the Blackwood name. She would spend her time locked away down here reading as much as possible. There were even a few novels of fantasy and science fiction. 

It was here that she learned as much as she could. Even ways to make her food last longer so she wouldn't stave as much when they "forgot" to feed her. Over time, she became smart enough to lay a trap for her family. One that would get her free from this place. One that she would expose them for the monsters they really were. She timed one of her father's "punishments" in tandem with a next-door neighbor doing some yard work. When she left the household due to a neighbor filing a complaint to the local police, and numerous investigations into her father's conduct, she was able to move out and not deal with them anymore. What made it better was that her family was disgraced. And the arranged marriage? Vanished like it never happened.
