I started on my way to Vermilion for my next Gym battle. I did a little bit of reading up on Lt. Surge and I discovered that his Pokémon are strong, but not fast. I knew how I had to go about this battle. Speed. If I could not out-muscle him, I could definitely outrun him. I could make sure my Pokémon were quick enough so that Surge could never land a single attack on me

I was deep in thought when I ran into someone. He stumbled forward and turned to look at me with a deadly glare. He was a young guy with long, dark hair that drooped over his face and big, black eyes. He wore a black blazer, a red and black dress shirt, black gloves, and khaki pants. His fists were tightly clenched, as if he had the sudden urge to punch me in the face.

"The proper phrase to use in this situation," he said in a dark, raspy voice, "would be 'Excuse me.' Then again, this whole situation could have been avoided if you had watched where you were going in the first place."

"I'm sorry, man," I responded, trying to avoid any unnecessary trouble, "I just got a little distracted."

He turned to me and clenched his fists even tighter, "Well, then next time, try paying a little more attention, you little runt."

I had a feeling something was about to go down, so I reached for my belt. His right hand lurched into his blazer, and suddenly, he blinked, and his left fist loosened up. "No," he growled, "I have more important matters to attend to than wasting my valuable time with the likes of you." And with that, he vanished.

I was extremely weirded out by this guy, but I didn't think much of it. I just finished my trek to Vermilion and began my training. Luckily for me, my Pokémon were all already sufficiently equipped with speed. All they needed was a little fine-tuning and focus. After we had that down, we would be able to take on Surge with no problem.
