I watched as Kira descended from the platform and moved to one end of the battlefield. Lucius walked to the other, and they both assumed a position, indicating that they were ready for the match to commence.

As the referee gave the signal, Kira and Lucius snatched a Ball and flung them onto the battlefield. Lucius opened with an Eevee, while Kira summoned his Pikachu. It still astounded me how that Pikachu still looked like it could take my Raichu out without a problem.

"Eevee, use Take Down!" Lucius barked. The Pokémon immediately charged toward Kira's Pikachu with absolute recklessness. It landed a heavy blow on the opponent's core, but it was clear that recoil damage was received as well.

Pikachu took advantage of the connection and released a powerful Thunderbolt attack. Eevee went into a spasm in response to the electric shock. It struggled to rise again, and it crouched down, waiting for another opportunity to attack.

"Bite," Lucius growled, "Then Toxic."

Eevee charged at Pikachu once again and sunk its teeth deep into Pikachu's arm. Pikachu shook it off and responded by delivering a Slam attack with its tail.

Eevee was thrown back across the battlefield and slowly picked itself back up. Pikachu stood proudly across the way, but then began to stumble. Eevee's attack succeeded. Pikachu was badly poisoned and was getting weaker with every passing second. It let off a powerful Thunder attack, finally defeating Eevee, before falling out from the exhaustion.

Kira seemed unconcerned about the fallen Pikachu, but showed appreciation for his partner. He snatched a Pokéball from his belt and flung it out. An enormous Snorlax exploded out of the Ball and roared ferociously. Lucius seemed startled from the roar, but he tried to keep his ground. He sent out an Espeon. Snorlax sat there, seemingly indifferent about the battle.

Espeon used Psychic against Snorlax, but the effect was minimal. Snorlax yawned, got up, and toppled itself over on top of the Espeon. The Psychic oppenent stuggled furiously to crawl out from underneath Snorlax, but only managed to poke its head out before it was no longer able to move. Espeon was paralyzed.

Snorlax got up again, and Espeon struggled to try and move, but it was too late. Snorlax bombarded its opponent with a powerful Fire Blast attack and burned Espeon into submission. To no one's surprise, Kira was in the lead.

Lucius clenched his fists tightly, clearly wondering what he was going to do about this powerhouse that was one of the remaining five obstacles standing in between him and his victory against the most powerful and feared trainer throughout the league.
