As I approached Viridian City for my final Gym Battle, a horrible resonant screeching filled the air. Having dealt with the sound several times before, I immediately recognized it as a Golbat looking for a fight. I found it strange, however, that a cave-dwelling Pokémon such as Golbat would be treading the paths of Viridian. The only logical explanation was that it had to belong to a trainer.

"Hey you!" A gruff voice soon confirmed my suspicions, "You look like a decent trainer! Let's have a battle! I need to warm up before the Pokémon League!"

I looked over to see a large trainer, quite built in the aspect of everywhere. He wore a black leather jacket, ripped jeans, and a black and red baseball cap. The trainer held a Pokéball out and the Golbat hovered close behind him.

"How can you tolerate that dreadful noise?" I asked him nonchalantly. As the trainer raised his hands to his ears, I got my answer. Earplugs.

"Sorry, I couldn't hear what you said," he chuckled.

"Nevermind," I rolled my eyes.

"So, how about it? My Golbat against whoever you've got to offer."

I smirked at him, "Alright, Pee Wee, you're on."

"My name's Blayd. Blayde Graves. Don't ever call me Pee Wee again if you want to live to see tomorrow."

"Whatever you say."

I sent out Raichu. Blayd did not even seem to notice the type advantage in the fight. He had Golbat come at Raichu with a Take Down attack. Raichu, without even expecting a command from me, dogded the attack and let Golbat charge into a nearby boulder. Then it blasted the opponent with a Thunderbolt attack, and Golbat was down for the count.

"You might want to train your Golbat a little more, buddy," I tried not to snicker.

"Mock me all you want," Blayd pointed his huge sausage of a finger at me, "But when the Pokémon League comes around, try not to cry too hard when I rip your ass in half!"

With that, Blayd Graves scurried off to the Pokémon Center. Meanwhile I waved to him in  the distance, muttering under my breath, "You keep telling yourself that, Pee Wee."
