Haunter sunk to the ground and sprouted a pair of legs. Its hands attached to its body, and the light surrounding it faded away to reveal my newly-evolved Gengar.

Robin growled, seeing that my already-threatening Haunter had just become much stronger before his eyes, "I know how to deal with you. Time to use the new guns." Robin flung another Pokéball into the air and sent out an Exeggutor. "Use Psybeam!"

Exeggutor complied, and Gengar was not taking the attack well at all. It fell out before long. I looked up at Robin and the new addition to his arsenal.

"So, where'd you get that bad boy from?" I asked him.

"Safari Zone," he responded, "I got another one I can't wait for you to meet."

"Well, how about I help you bring it out a little quicker? Go, Charizard!"

My Flame Pokémon hurled out of its Pokéball. It roared and lunged at Exeggutor.

"Charizard!" I yelled confidently, "Use Fire Blast!"

"Not so fast," Robin chuckled, "Exeggutor! Ancient Power!"

Exeggutor conjured up a glowing, white sphere and launched it at Charizard. Charizard took the attack directly and dove headfirst into the ground, completely unconscious.

"Alright," I nodded, "Not bad, Robin. But now, it's time to bring out an old friend of ours. Go Gyarados!"

As always, Gyarados exploded out of its Pokéball, roared its mighty roar, and waited for my command. It did not have to wait long.

"Ice Beam," I commanded darkly. Gyarados bombarded Exeggutor with its chilling beam and Exeggutor fainted. Robin, to my surprise, did not seem at all upset.

"Nice one, Brian," Robin chuckled. I sensed some sinistry in his laugh that seemed quite uncharacteristic of him, "but I've finally got an answer for that demon of yours. Go! Electrode!"

Electrode emerged. It looked up at my Gyarados, and its wide grin stretched out even more.

"Thunderbolt," Robin growled, almost in a whisper. In compliance, Electrode summoned up an electical surge and sent it crashing at Gyarados. Gyarados squirmed and roared in pain until finally crashing to the ground and refusing to move any more. I could not bear to watch. My eyes watered, my heart pounded, and my throat knotted as I witnessed the worst.

My last and strongest Pokémon, my beloved Gyarados had fallen.
