"Hey Elena!"
Elena opened her eyes from a dream about the apocalypse. Her bed was surrounded by all the girls in her dorm, holding laterns to her face.
Perhaps it was the eery way they towered over her, or maybe it was the latern's light falling on their faces, but Elena's half-asleep brain assumed the apocalypse had gotten her too.
"Am I... Dying? " She weakly mumbled. If she was going to die, who would feed Dawn? Who would feed Soleil?
She heard snickering around her, then suddenly someone began rigorously rubbing and shaking her chest. She sat upright suddenly.
"HEY!" She shouted, pushing away the hand, "WHO DID THAT?!"
She looked up to see Felicia smiling wide.
"It's a technique doctors use on patients who don't wake up easily. " She told her, "I've always wanted to use it."
"Well, don't do it again." Elena replied, disgruntled and annoyed. She looked around to see all the Hufflepuff girls in her dorm surrounding her.
"What's going on? Why's everyone up?"
"It's Midnight Quidditch tonight!" Callipso (a sixth year) explained, "it's a match older students have annually together. Come on now, we don't have all night!"
She and Cedar pulled her out of her bunker, and she clumsily put on her slippers as Felicia helped her. The other students left to join the boys in the common room.
"What are you doing here anyways?" She asked Felicia.
"My dorm woke me up too. When I came out I saw Hufflepuffs leaving too, so I sneaked in to get you. Looks like I was in time."
"The other houses are in this too?" Elena asked as she and Felicia entered the common room.
"Apparently, it's something all the houses do together. Gwen told me about it at dinner."
Elena and Felicia exited the Hufflepuff common room along with the others. The whole group quietly tiptoed out cautiously. The paintings all remained soundly asleep (Elena had a feeling that they were feigning it).
Dane was also present in the group. As soon as he spotted Felicia, he came upto her and was about to tell her to leave, but Callipso stopped him.
"Tonight we aren't divided by houses."She lectured him, keeping her voice low, "Everyone's doing this together. "
He scowled, but did not argue further.
They arrived at the grounds in some time, where Slytherin and Ravenclaw stood. They were not divided though; it was just one large group.
Soleil and Elios searched through the arriving crowd, and spotted Elena and Felicia. Soleil began to frantically waving her hands in the air towards them. Felicia waved back and the two ran over to the Slytherins."Where were you?!" Soleil asked Felicia demandingly, "I sifted through all of Ravenclaw to find you!"
"I was getting this kid." She replied simply, pointing at Elena.
"Did you guys see the Gryffindors on your way?" Elios asked, searching the ground with his eyes.
"Nope." Elena replied.
"I did see one talking to a Ravenclaw earlier. I bet they're on their way."
Dane, who was standing by, told him."I'll be in a minute." Felicia muttered and hurried off. She went upto a red haired senior, who then gave her a small blanket.
Once the Gryffindors arrived at the Quidditch Stadium, the event started.
In place of the announcer was someone Elena recognised.
"Sully!" Elios yelled in excitement, pointing at the podium.
"Witches and Wizards, Welcome to the Hogwarts Midnight Quidditch Match! Since this year's announcer was meant to be Gryffindor, I, Sullivan Macmillan will be the commentator!"
Sullivan's voice boomed through the stadium.
"Who's side are you on?" Elios asked Elena, his eyes shining with excitement."Uhm, I don't know what teams there are..." She replied awkwardly.
"Oh. Well, this year there's the Wrackspurts and the macaroons."
Elena stiffled a giggle at the names with great difficulty. Soleil and Felicia however laughed their hearts out.
"Weird names, I know... But that's the point. It's meant to be ridiculous." He said, looking rather disappointed.
"Who's side are you on?" Elena asked.
"Oh, I'm playing."
"Which team?"
Elios looked away and mumbled,
"I'm on the macaroons."Elena nodded at him and yelled to Soleil and Felicia over the crowd and Sullivan's voices; "WE'RE CHEERING FOR MACAROONS, OKAY?!"
They both gave her a thumbs up.Sullivan continued;
"Before any of you goodie-two shoes start to wonder if we'll get caught, I would like to make it clear that the stadium has been surrounded by charms preventing any sounds from reaching the castle. So cheer your hearts out tonight folks!"The whole crowd made a deafening cheer.
"So! This year's teams are... " He said, looking down at a piece of paper, "First, the Wrackspurts!"
"I'm going now, bye. " Elios said to them and went off.
The Wrackspurts team entered the ground.
Elena recognised Callipso Sapphire, Gaia Collins, Dennis Matthews and Sienna Sapphire from their team. The rest were Gryffindor and Slytherin Seniors whom she had never met.The Wrackspurts stood on the opposite side of the stadium. All of the friends and supporters of Wrackspurts went to their side.
"And now, welcome the MACAROONS!"
The whole stadium laughed and cheered and the team entered the ground.
The Macaroons entered, and Elena saw Elios enter with many other familiar faces. Matilda River, Cedar Parkinson were also fifth year students. The other seniors were Harleen Quinton, James Oliver and Aiden Williams. There was a seventh players Elena Didn't recognise."May all the players mount their brooms and assume their positions!"
The keepers went over to their posts. Elios, Cedar and Matilda assumed the position of chasers.
"The Quaffle will be released on the count of three. One... Two... THREE!"
And off they went.
